This is super easy but can be messy. Get some rags or a very shallow baking sheet because some water may drain onto your floor. Turn off and unplug the washer for safety. All your doing is removing three screws with star screwdriver, unscrewing a canister inside (by hand), cleaning it out, and putting everything back. Here are the detailed steps:
There are three screws at the base of the washer. Theses screws hold the bottom panel in place. You will need a STAR head screw driver. Most screwdriver kits come with them, or you can get one at any local Radio Shack or Home Depot. Remove these three screws and remove the panel.
Put your catch pan or rags under the middle of the machine. There's not much room so you may have shove them in there.
There is a large white plastic canister that has one tube going in and one tube going out. The front of this screws off/on. Gently unscrew (by hand) the canister. Water will probably begin draining. It will stop shortly, but if it gets out of control, just screw the lid back on and go get what you need to catch the excess water.
After you have unscrewed the canister, you may need to pull the lid towards you a little. You will soon see why. I was so surprised at the amount of yuck that had collected (coins, broken pencils, bugs, lint...). Remove the obvious yuck and put everything back. That's it. Plug washer back in and turn it on.
