If your drive is showing up in the drive list, but you can't open it, it's possible that it is formatted for another file system (like, if you have a MAC and the drive is formatted for Windows.) If you are unsure of a file format to choose, I would recommend formatting the drive using the FAT32 file system, it's usually readable by both Windows and Apple computers. In Windows, you can right click on the drive and choose FORMAT. Apple you would use the Disk Utilities to format.

NOTE formatting a drive ERASES all data on the drive. So make sure you choose the correct drive to format. If you have not yet used the drive, you don't have to worry about it having any data on it to erase, however, if the drive was working previously, you don't want to format it, or else you will lose your data.

If the drive is not showing up in your list, it's possibly a power problem. Make sure the drive is plugged in to a live outlet, and make sure any switches on the drive are turned on. You should be able to hear the drive spinning if you put your ear to it after it's powered on....many drives also have a light that indicates it is receiving power.

If neither of these help, it's possible you have received a bad drive, or the enclosure that encases the drive (and has the power connectors and interface) is a problem. You may want to take it back and have it replaced by the manufacturer or retailer you purchased it from.

Good Luck

Do not Work!

I think if it's only damage to the power supply section of the portable hard drive, then what's on the disc might be OK. So it's just a case of taking the drive to somewhere that can fix the power supply side of the drive and hope that the disc can be saved.

How to update sanyo tv firmware

We have a Sanyo LCD 40xR10F(B) Tv. We bought a 2.0 TB Portable Hard Drive, brand Toshiba. Plugged it into Tv and nothing appeared. Rang Toshiba, and they advised that most tv\'s don\'t let you use more than 1 TB. Was advised to call Sanyo, but can\'t seem to reach them. Rang the place where I bought it from, (they were the ones that sold me this and said it would work), they said to download software from computer and save to usb then put on Tv and that should fix it. I am not sure on what I am meant to download. Can anyone help me please?

The MAC is not recognizing HDD because it may not be in FAT or MAC OS X Journeled Format.
Please Follow below steps to Reformat the HDD to make it Compatible with MAC.

1. Connect the HDD.
2. Open Disk Utility from Applications -> Utilities
3. On left side of Disk Utility you'll find your HDD.
4. Click on HDD and select the Format TAB.
5. Reformat the HDD in Mac OSX Journeled Format.
6. Click Apply.
7. Done.

P.S. : It will erase everything from your HDD so remember to backup all data before doing this.

Hope it Helps..!!

I bought an external drive 1 TB 3 days ago,i put my documents in ,but today it doesn't want to open.I try in other computer but its doing the same.I'm in Russia.

Hello there! What kind of response are you getting when you try to open it? These types of problems arises mainly due to viruses which disables opening flash drives and drives normally. You can try Explore instead of open or after clicking the drive icon if the openwith dialog appear then you can open it by selecting Internet explorer as the program to open.

Please tell how to open the case.

How do you know the drive is no good?

Lets get real now ...

Dont be so hasty to tear this up. What is the point anyway ... the drive is worth about $100.00 - the case about 80 cents. What are you saving by opening the case?

Did you buy this in the last 30 or so days? If BB will not talk to you ... did you use a credit card to purchase, call the CC company and tell them what happened.

I think the CC company will help you.

Thanks for using
