It sounds like you have a bad main board again. you might be having some power issues.
we are an ASC for Fargo, if you need parts send me an email. Although the 4250 has been discontinued a long time ago, parts are scarce.

Got xp windows, cannot find drivers for fargo printer 4250

Hi there,Due to the age of the printer you only get NT/2000 drivers. You can download them at the site below it also has a guide on how to install. The drivers for NT/2000 should work with XP. You can even try the 98 Drivers.http://www.fargosupport.com/archive_results.asp?archDriver=1&archPrinter=13&archSubmit.x=39&archSubmit.y=6&archSubmit=archSubmit

Drivers for Vista Fargo 4250 thermal printer

Hi
Here is a list of drivers for the Fargo 4250:
http://www.fargosupport.com/archive_results.asp?archDriver=1&archPrinter=13&archSubmit.x=23&archSubmit.y=6&archSubmit=archSubmit
Please bear in mind that this is an old printer, therefore fargo have not made any drivers for windows vista. You could download the NT/2000 drivers or the ME drivers and run them in compatibility mode.
Regards
Mike

Fargo 4250 card printer runs, but doesn't print.

take the ribbon out, and rewind it a little bit and see if you see print on it. if you dont, chances are your printhead is either bad or has loose cables going into it.

if you do see print, either your card is not aligning properly or the head lift motor might not be working (when the unit on, open the door, and press both buttons at the same time and see if the printhead does an up and down motion), platen roller is bad

Fargo 4250 in XP

Download the Windows 2000 driver. Go to "Settings" then to "Control Panel". Then go into "Printers and Faxes". On the left hand side click "Add a Printer". Check "Local Printer attached..." but make sure "autmatically detect..." is not checked. Then click next. Select the port that the printer is connected to. Then click next and it will ask for the software. Click "Have Disk" and browse to the folder where you saved the driver. It should then find the Fargo 4250 driver and your in business.

Replacing a power supply board

The power supply assembly is quite a thing to get out. You really will need a service manual for the 4250.

Go to http://www.TheServiceManualShop.com and see if they have one listed. If not, ask them to get it for you. They can usually find them within a few hours.

You will need to remove the following assemblies just to be able to start removing the PSU:

● Rear output bin
● Rear accessory cover and tray 2 extension door.
● Top, right-side, and left-side covers
● Fuser
● Formatter assembly

Then remove the PCA guide and the part above it
Remove the power switch arm
Disconnect the PSU cables from the DC controller
Remove the fan cover plate
Disconnect the fan and thermistor connectors
Pull the PSU cable through the frame and you are about there. A bit of wriggling and wrangling and the whole assy should come out.
