Hi.

E1 means that there is water leakage from hose connection, or that there is leakage because one part is broken. In simpler words it means that the machine detects incorrect pressure and amount of water because of a fault or because of incorrect hose settings.

Disconnect power. Check the plastic hose on the side.

Clean drain. Check the drain hose settings. Ensure that the drain hose is at the height specified on manual. Do a test running a cycle with the drain hose down in the bucket.

If hoses are OK, then problem can be hoses and seals connected to the motor. If seals are OK, then the motor must be replaced. Motor and seals are located behind the kick panel at the base of the appliance.

Regards.

Ginko

LG dishwasher error code E1

E1 is a code that the dishwasher displays after detecting a leak. There is a sensor on the pan at the very bottom of the unit. Take the bottom front panel off, look under the unit at the hose coming off the pump and your fill line to be sure no water is dripping. Run the unit in a wash cycle while doing this if possible.

E 1 error

90% of the time you get an E1 error code is because the drain hose is not properly installed between the LG dishwasher and the drain. The hose should connect to an Air Gap valve (almost free at any hardware store) but in a pinch, raise the drain hose near the drain and attach the hose to the bottom of the counter top under the sink. Is should rise almost 30 inches between the dishwasher and the drain or the water WILL siphon out of the dishwasher as soon as the wash or rinse cycle begins (and take 5 minutes before the water gets low enough the cause the E1 error.
Good Luck!

LG Dishwasher making grinding noise then blinking E1 code 10 minutes later

Well done by resolving this problem. The other way to avoid the siphoning problem through the drain hose is adding an air gap valve/connector (available at any hardware store). You can use it even if you don't have a garbage disposal in your kitchen sink. That will assure that you have the proper height of the drain hose.
Hope this helps!
