Try pulling the cartridges back out and make sure that all of the tape is off of the back and bottom of the electrical contacts on the cartridge, try not to scatch the contacts if there is some tape still stuck on there. you can ''CAREFULLY"" use a small sharp blade to peel the excess tape off and it should detect the cartridge after you are finished.

No longer recognizes the ink

Are you using compatible ink cartridges? When a compatible cartridge is empty in an Epson printer the printer reports "Cartridge not recognised". This is Epson's way of scaring you into using Epson branded cartridges. Just change the cartridge and it should be OK.

If it's not that issue then maybe the chip on the cartridge is faulty. Again, just change the cartridge.

I put a tesco brand identical cartridge into my Lexmark 5600 and a message said that the cartridge was not compatible with my printer. As i said the new cartridge was identical to the old one. Please help.

Unfortunately, the printer manufacturers want to make money selling cartridges. So they add little things that tell the printer if this is a genuine cartridge from the manufacturer. The alternate brands can not always keep up with this coding. Before you give up, try reseating the new cartridge. Otherwise, try the manufacturer's exact replacement cartridge.

I wish that I could be of more help.

How do i change ink cartridge

While cartridge installation varies somewhat between brands and models, these general instructions apply to most major brands:

Purchase an ink cartridge made specifically for your printer.
  • Step 2 Turn on your printer and raise the lid or press the cartridge changing button.
  • Step 3 Wait for the cartridge carrier to slide out.
  • Step 4 Put your finger behind the ridge on the top front of the old cartridge and pull it toward you to remove. If you have an Epson printer, lift the cartridge holder lid, and the cartridge will pop up for removal.
  • Step 5 Carefully remove the tape from the ink opening on the bottom of new cartridge.
  • Step 6 Insert the new cartridge into the cartridge carrier. Make sure the new cartridge is oriented the same way that the old cartridge had been.
  • Step 7 Feel and hear the cartridge click into position. On some models, arrows will indicate the cartridge is correctly positioned.
  • Step 8 If you have an Epson printer, close the cartridge holder lid and press the cleaning button to charge the cartridge.
  • Step 9 Close printer cover.

I have an Epson Stylus 4400. when I replaced the ink cartridge with a new Tesco cartridge it still registers empty.

Compatibility issues. The epson cartridge has an intellidge chip so the printer's sensor can read the cartridge properly.
Try to take the cartridge out then put it back in to the printer. Let it charge like it normally does.
Use an epson cartridge. Log on to epson.com to get the compatible cartridge for your printer.

Full cartridge been put it, goes through the motions of printing but nothing appears on the paper.

    Hi,

As you probably know Epson cartridges have a microchip attached.

I'ts possible that the compatible cartridges (which should also be chipped) have not been reset correctly to match your printer.

You may try running the head cleaning function but if this fails, I suspect the chips on the cartridges have not been set correctly.

If this is the case, return them to the supplier as "faulty".
It is no big deal for them to top up and reset the chip correctly (which is what they often do with compatibles) then they re-sell them.

Try taking the cartridges out and then putting them back in and run the head cleaning function first though.

    Good luck.

Epsom stylus CX4700 won't print - new ink cartridges installed

They cut costs on Epson compatible cartridges by using low quality ink and chips or not resetting the chips at all. Sounds like you got cartridges that the chips were not reset on so your printer thinks all the cartridges are empty. I own a Cartridge World ink refilling store and I would never recommend purchasing compatible Epson cartridges from anyone. I would buy refills of Epson brand cartridges and make sure the seller reset the chips.

Printer says "Install ink cartridges correctly and then hit ok"

Try putting genuine ink it. If it still refuses to recognise the carts then it need to go back to Epson for a warranty repair. As an Epson eng 90% of the time, rubbish compatible cartridges are the source of such issues. They can even make the printer stop recognising genuine carts.

Do not mention to Epson that you used compatibles or they may refuse the warranty repair.
