Hey,

A common problem for these is bad capacitors in the power supply, Remove the back from your TV and look at the power supply on the left hand side.

You will see roughly around 9 x capacitors that are bulged / domed shaped on top usually these are valued at 3300uf 10V any that have bulged or leaked a brown like substance should be changed.
This will cure the problem as they overheat being sat next to a heatsink that gets very hot!
Try and change them for the same 3300uf but a higher voltage.if otherwise, the power supply board is dead, u know basic electronics' and soldering? Most of the times, the power supply board just have dead leakages gases capacitors. These capacitors always bulges up on it top,or puff up on it top.Replaced these gases leakages capacitors will get your TV power stable, and work again.Or tries websites like Shopjimmy.com,Ebay.com to buy a whole refurbish power supply board for the replacement.

Hope this will help to fix the problem and do take care in handling the problem.....

Sound but no image on Hitachi 42pd5000

Two things need to be checked. The ballast board and the T-con board. Shine a flashlight on the screen with the TV on...If you see a faint picture moving, then the T-Con board is OK. The ballast board for the white backlight is bad. If you don't see a faint picture, then the T-con board is bad. My hitachi plasma 42 PD7800TA does not turn on ,not even the standby ,the fuse is fine ,dont know what else to do? thanks Tony.

Hello
The power regulator board in your Hitachi is not switching. It is an SMPS [Switched Mode Power Supply]. Normally for plasma TVs the power supply repair will be almost impossibele due to lack of component availability. If the fuse is OK, definitley the switching process has failed it it. There is an IC which oscillates at high frequency, whic its oscillation signals are given to MOSFET transistors to chop the incoming AC, converted DC voltage. These switched voltage is passed through SMPS transofrmers which it turn generates secondary voltages that goes to different circuit boards of your TV. The power board is the most important section in a Plasma TV. it must be perfect in every respect in terms of secondary voltages. If any one of this voltage goes over than specified, the main boar will get damaged. So it is adviced to replace it as card basis, rather than making "sugery" to it. The power supply board can be had from Authorised Hitachi Service centers. You just give the the exact model number of your Hitachi TV. They will give you the orginal power supply board. Never play experiments with Plasma TV. OK.

I have a hitachi 50 "plasma that was given to me

First do you see a light indicating that the TV has power? There are two power buttons on the TV (the main power and the regular power button). The red standby light will light up when the main power switch is on. This indicator is just to the left of the remote I/R sensor. You can find the main switch on the bottom front of the tv (it is under the tv forward of the stand). Turn on the Main power if it is not on. Then try the power button on the control panel of the TV again.

Does the standby light change color or blink? (Red is standby, orange is power savings (no signal), blue is on.) If the main switch is on and the standby light doesn't come on, the TV has a problem at the power supply. Try unplugging the unit for a bit (at least 30 seconds) and then plugging it back in. This will reset the internal circuitry. If you see a blinking light, then the TV is reporting a self-test failure. I do not know the codes for this model Hitachi Plasma TV.

The manual for the Hitachi P50H401 TV is available from Retrevo: http://www.retrevo.com/support/Hitachi-P50H401-TVs-manual/id/1233ci869/t/2/ . You will need to enter a code to access the pdf.

I'm assuming you don't have one of the special versions that were intended for large audiences that were only controlled by remote (no control keys on the front of the TV). Remotes.com has the original remote or a substitute remote if you need it. See http://www.remotes.com/remotes/servlet/rs?a=gmi&uuid=13104063628240&smodel=P50H401&brand_pn=HITACHI_P50H401 .

I hope this helps.

I have a hitachi 55pma550 plasma tv.when I turn on the main switch red light comes on standby. But when I turn on tv the red red light on stand by turns green only for 10 seconds and goes red no picture...

It's most likely the smps. You'll first need to check voltages at CN63, pin #1-(+5v), 3-(+3.3v) and pin 8-(+6v) Also check CNPPS, pin 1-(+30v), 4-(+5v), 8-(+12v), 12-(+10v) absent these values and the power supply is clearly the problem.

37" hitachi plasma tv doesnt turn on

If you have a light on ( standby light ), then I would say power supply fault, tv could be shut down because of faulty capacitors in power supply. if you dont have any lights at all , check fuse in plug,
( there will almost certainly be a fuse in the tv) but, that is for a tv guy to fix.
