Question about Heating & Cooling

Open Question

Mate i am a plumber licensed i am at a job where a MPI-325 rheem heatpump is installed it has a red light flashing in the panel for attention i assume this indicates any nature of faults possible. In my case the heatyer is not producing any hot water i have tethere is a thermostatic mixing valve installed and sted the element for power and it is fine so to is the element there is no visible signs of any fault within the cylinder itself or any connections made to it i have not dealt with too many faults on the heat pumps prior to this and there is no visible cut out switch visible nor is there a manual here with the customer. regards michael leal

SOURCE: Rheem RTG 53 PVN with fault codes C4 or C7

I had the same problem with my tankless waterheater (flashing c4 76 alternately). I called Rheem
tech support and they had me 1 power down the remotepanel 2 unplug the unit from the wall 3 remove the cover 4 remove the wires for the remote panel from the circuit board and pull the twisted pair that goes to the remote out from the bottom of the unit. 5 reinstall the cover 6 plug the unit back
into the wall and turn on the hot water see if it works. It did in my case and they are sending me a new remote panel. I hope it helps.........

SOURCE: Rheem Hot Water Cylider Thermostat keeps tripping

Sounds like you have a faulty thermostat.  This is the unit that detects the water temperature, and if it is not where it is set, will kick the switch to allow electricity to flow to the elements you replaced. The thermostats are relatively cheap and if you have the knowledge to change the elements, changing these thermostats should not be a problem.

SOURCE: 2003 Suburban---Heated leather seat problem

there may be a software issue, there is a reprogram for seat heater issues. Bulletin 05-08-50-008 may pertain to that, a AC DELCO Shop or the dealer can ck that and see if this bulletin applies.

SOURCE: Oven not working, is it the thermostat or element

This will almost certainly be the element and is fairly simple to replace.

Can everhot 315 b converted to solar use

most probably
you have to buy the solar panels/tubes and a transfer pump and control box
It is a job for a plumber and not for a DIY as power connections are involved
the advantage is that you can have an isolator switch put in the circuit so that you can turn the elements off when there is sunshine
a quality control box will display , pump operation , solar panel/tubes heat, tank water temperature
discuss the change with a solar hot water retailer and plumber before you make the decision

We have a Rheem hot water system installed in 1994. We think from the owners guide left by the installer that it is a model 52F. Our plumber is having difficulty getting a replacement part. The bottom...

Hello, The plumber should be able to call Rheem directly and if that does not work, your local parts supplier for Rheem should be able to get him a number for the Rheem factory (I'm assuming he called and the parts supplier could not locate the part he needed??)
Hope this helps. Thanks James

I have Rheem eld 80 and have no hot water. Electrician checked if that was the problem but he said the bottem panel thermostat needs replaced and to call a plumber. Can most plumbers handle it. Is that...

Yes a local plumber should be able to do it. Finding the part however may be harder. There should be a plumbers supply company that handles commercial units nearby.

I have a 75 gal. powervent model #42vp75fw. the vapor sensor shut it down and i do not know how to reset it. please help. thank you

I answer questions for free.
My job is to provide resources that help you for free.

1) That being said, my research into FVIRs says you need a plumber when the FVIR trips.
2) The use-and-care manual for your model also says call a technician.
3) Buying replacement parts through a plumber is true for all water heaters except the Bradford White which has a resettable FVIR. BW is the only company with a re-settable FVIR, however the water heater market changes daily.

4) If the FVIR shorted and shut down the water heater, it probably saved a fire and maybe saved a life.

The following site says to call Rheem, who will tell you to call a local plumber.

The Rheem lineup of gas water heaters shows you have a 75 gallon tall heater:

The spec sheet for your model

The use and care manual has troubleshooting section > it says the combustion shut-off has to be inspected by qualified technician

Rheem Power Vent 2 water heater is flashing 4 times and there is no hot water. Model # 41VRP50NT What can I do to fix this? Do I need to call a plumber?

The flashing light is a trouble sequence light. Find your manual to see what 4 flashes means. It's usually attached to the side of the water heater tank. Try a quick fix by unplugging the power vent and see what happens.

Wiring diagram for Rheem rpka-31 jaz heatpump

TURN THE POWER OFF TO THE UNIT. TAKE THE BACK PANEL OF OF THE HEAT PUMP AND LOOK FOR A SQUARE PLASTIC BAG FASTENED TO THE INSIDE OF THE UNIT, IT MAY BE LOCATED BY THE CONTACTS AND SYSTEM WIRING OR ON THE PANEL ITSELF. REMOVE THE PAPER FROM THE PLASTIC AND THIS SHOULD CONTAIN YOUR WIRING DIAGRAM. ALSO LOOK ON THE BACK OF THE PANEL ITSELF FOR THE DIAGRAM. SOMETIMES THE DIGRAM IS PRINTED THERE.

Ihave a new water heater.Worked for 3 days. Now back to Ice baths

All new tank-type gas water heaters for the home are designed with Flammable Vapor Ignition Resistant systems. It sounds like the unit has shut down because of a venting problem. If it is a Rheem or Ruud (General Electric for Home Depot) you have to reploace the heater. Other brands alow for resetting this safety device. Don't take chances with gas if you are not absolutely sure of what you are doing - have a professional licensed plumber check out the problem.
