Question about HP Compaq Business NX9110 Notebook

1 Answer

Hi All, I have a Compaq nx9110 notebook, can't set the resolution higher than 1024x768. Specifications I've found on various web pages say the resolution can be increased up to 1280 but I've had no success so far, maybe anyone can help me to do that or to help find out if it is possible to do at all.

Hi

1.Minimize all applications so thatyou have a clear view of your desktop. 2.Right-click an open area of thedesktop - make sure you don't right-click an icon such as My Computer bymistake. 3.From the small menu that appears, click (left mouse button) on "Properties." 4. A "Display Properties"window will appear; click the "Settings" tab to bring it to thefront. 5.In the lower right portion of thattab, find the section titled "Screen Area" with a slide bar goingfrom left to right, or from "less" to "more." 6.With your mouse, slide the bar tothe right, towards the "more" side. As you slide the bar, youshould see the word under it go from 800 X 600 to a higher resolution, such as1024 X 768. 7.I recommend trying just one notch ata time. Click "Apply" to test your new settings. Aninformational message will appear, saying that you will have 15 seconds to testyour new settings before they take effect. 8.Click "OK" to test the newsettings. The screen will change to allow you to view it, and if you wantto keep those settings, click "Yes" within 15 seconds. To keepyour old settings, click "No" or wait 15 seconds. 9.Repeat steps 6-8 until you have asetting that you are satisfied with. When you are done, click "OK" tomake the Display Properties box disappear.
Tips:
1. Some video cards and/or monitors support fewer colors as the screen resolution increases. It is up to you to decide which is more important. The number of colors is to the left of the "Screen Area" section on the same tab. 2. Once you have your resolution set higher, try maximizing the window for various programs. You may be surprised how much of a spreadsheet or webpage you can view on your screen!

Thanks a lot for your replay. I've already tried that, max allowable setting is 1024. I thought maybe there was a driver issue but I guess the display itself doe not support higher resolution and I don't know why some sites say it can be set to 1280.

Zoom on desktop

Try Right Clicking on a empty space on the desktop and select Properties. Click the Settings Tab and go change the screen resolution. The higher the resolution, the smaller the icons. Normal resolution is about 1024x768, but you can make the icons even smaller by increasing the resolution.

If you can't get into the screen resolution that way, turn off the computer and boot up into safe mode.

Turn off the computer, then hit the power button to turn it back on and immediately start hitting the F8 key repeatedly until you see SAFE MODE. Take the Safe Mode option and let it boot up. Safe Mode will look different to you, the screen will be darker and the icons bigger, this is normal.

When the computer boots up click Start/Control Panel or Start/Settings Control Panel and look for Desktop or Appearance and Personalization.
Look for Screen Resolution or open the desktop and click the Settings tab. Make the resolution higher to make the icons smaller. Normal is 1024x768 but you can make it higher.

In Windows 7 just click Start and in the search box type: Screen Resolution. Look up at the top for the returned search results and click on Screen Resolution. Go in and set the resolution higher.

After you change the resolution reboot and let windows go into it's normal boot up mode.

My Mac will not install the Digital camera Solution Disk says my screen resolution is insufficient...

This must be because you have a widescreen monitor or because you have set a screen resolution that's too low for anything.
Most programs ask for a screen resolution higher than 1024x768 (which they rarely actually need) to install.
So you can change yours to that value (or higher) for the installation and if it distorts your display, set it back to the original value later.
To see how to change your resolution, go to this site; http://www.ehow.com/how_2064940_change-display-resolution-mac-osxchange-display-resolution-mac-osx.html
After setting the resolution to 1024x768 or higher, run the installation and it should proceed with no problems.

Hi, i own compaq presario CQ42 369TU laptop, how do i increase my screen resolution from 1024x768 to 1280x1024 or higher ?

For Windows XP...

1.
Open Display in Control Panel.
2.
On the Settings tab, under Screen resolution, drag the slider, and then click Apply.
3.
When prompted to apply the settings, click OK. Your screen will turn black for a moment.
4.
Once your screen resolution changes, you have 15 seconds to confirm the change. Click Yes to confirm the change; click No or do nothing to revert to your previous setting.

If you cannot set it any higher than 1024x768 and you have already installed the video drivers, that is as high as it can go for your hardware.

Black border around screen

Have you checked to see that you've set the correct resolution for your desktop?

The specifications say that the laptop's display can show 1024x768 pixels.

http://www.toshiba-europe.com/computers/products/notebooks/tecra9000/index.htm

Set it to that first. Anywhere below that resolution (for example 800x600) may be causing black borders on your screen.

Hope this helps!

Thefollowing three conditions should be met for you to use a charger safely. 1)Output Voltage is within +/- 5% of your old charger's output.
For example, ifyour old charger provides 19.5V, then you can use a charger that provides 20.5Vor 18.5V.
2) Output Current is the same or higher than that of your old charger.
For example, ifyour original adapter provides 3.42 Amps, then you can use a charger thatprovides 3.42 Amps, 3.9 Amps or higher.
3) Connector tip must fit securely into your laptop. Pleasecheck carefully before using nx9110 adapter on t30.

Graphics problem

First of all, note that the maximum resolution of your screen is 1024x768... any higher is simply not possible (unless you hook up an external monitor)
If the maximum resolution (in Display Settings) is below that, you need to update your graphics driver. To do so, follow the steps on this page.
Hope to have helped,

Display Resolution

Make sure you have the correct driver loaded from the Fujitsu website. Additionally, try removing the Display Adapter from device manager and reboot. This will allow Windows to identify the "new" hardware and attempt to install. If asked, point Windows to the driver files from Fujitsu and that should fix you up :)

Hope this helps!

High resolution display drivers needed

You will need to connect an external monitor that is capable of a higher resolution. Sound like the native resolution of the LCD panel in the notebook is 1024X768, not uncommon for 15" laptops.
