Try to reset your printer factory default settings. Press Settings button -> Defaults -> Set Defaults -> Use Factory -> press Check. You will be asked to setup your printer settings like you're setting it up the first time - set the time and date, etc. When done, unplug and replug the printer into the power outlet to refresh the printer.

Changed printer cartridge now wont scan printed sheet! Thanks,DV

Every time you put a new cartridge, the printer does a test page. That is because it is aligning your cartridge. Now what you need to do is take that test page and put it in your scanner as indicated on the test page. Then press "scan" on your printer. The printer should then do a scanner alignment and you should be able to scan. If you do not have that test page, print another one. Go to start, settings, find printers and faxes and open it. You will see your printer. Right click on the printer and you will see a menu. Open Properties. Find General- there is a "print test page" button. Click on it.

My printer keeps printing the test page everytime its switched on, How do I stop this as wasting ink ?

Remove and reinstall the printer driver. Make sure you have the latest driver consistent with your operating system. www.hp.com/support

The printer prints a test page everytime i turn the printer on

I had the same problem and it was driving me crazy until I did this. Please follow exactly and IN ORDER.

1. Turn off the printer and wait 10 seconds. Turn it on again

2. Let the printer print the test page.

3. After the test page is printed, disconnect the USB cable connecting the printer to your computer. DO NOT turn off the printer while disconnecting the USB cable.

4. Place the test page on the scanner glass and press the SCAN button on the printer. The ON light will flash as the page is being scanned.

5. Remove the test page when the ON light is steady.

6. Finally, turn off the printer and wait another 10 seconds. Then turn it on again. No more printing test pages!

(You may now reconnect the printer to your computer via the USB cable.)

Try this:
  • Open HP Director
  • On the main window select Settings>Print Settings>Printer Toolbox
  • Open the Configuration Tab
  • At bottom right click "Factory Settings" button then "Apply"
A configuration warning popped up explaining that would be changing settings used by the driver. Click ok.

My printer keeps printing the test page every time it's switched on. I have C3180 all in one printer.

That is a "configuration-option" -- navigate through the controls on the printer itself to disable that option; or, just leave the printer on -- it will go to "power-save" mode after a few minutes of non-usage.

first try to print windows test page from the pc and check out.if windows test page prints ok then try to print from my documents.but if windows test page does not print that means drivers are not got properly installed.

click stat---click settings --- click printer and faxes-- a page will get opened-- on that page you will see you printer icon-- right click that printer icon ------ and click the last option called properties ---- a page will get opened.---- on that page on lower right corner you will see print test page option--- click that and see if that page prints.

Test page print before all new printsession

Thank u very much indeed. I took out the cartridges after opening the front door. and reslotted the same int their positions. The printer as usual printed the test page. I put the said printed test page in the top tray of the printer closed the lid and as advised pressed the start scan button on the printer. this started the scan and when the process was done the printer stopped blinking. I switched off the printer and the next session with the printer was trouble free. Dr. bhawnani.

Can't print from the 'print' button on screen, will copy and scan from printer, will run test from computer

try uninstalling the update as long as it is not one necessary to new programs. Find the uninstall for it by doind a search in the run menu, and the uninstall file should come up. Follow prompts. Now try printing again. If this fails, you may have to uninstall printer drivers ie go to remove programs, unilnstall printer and all related files. Now reinstall using your original printer canon disk for your operating system. Try printing again.

Test page

I had the same problem and being helped by HP operator.
first take the USB cable out of your computer, then put it off and then on again...it starts to print the test page again...then after the printer stops printing, put the just printed testpage face down on the scanner(glas) and press scan manually...after the scanning(you wait till that is finnished) and then put the printer off and on again....then connect the USB cable to the computer and that will stop the printer from printing the testpage every time you startup your printer....

hope it wil solve your problem, it did for me...
