Question about Televison & Video

1 Answer

I am just wondering if anyone has tested the new freview dish tv satelite receiver yet. If so have u tested if you can transfer programs from the box to your pc via usb or not. It says on the first page of the manual u can use the usb as a portable hdd drive but it doesn't say in the manual how to do it, all it says is how to do a software upgrade via the usb. I am asking because if i can transfer my recordings to the pc via usb then would buy the product. any info on this would be much appreciated.

If I understand you correctly, you want to know if you connect an external hard drive to your DISH Network receiver, can you transfer the recorded contents to your PC? If that is what you are asking, the answer is no. When you connect the EHD to your receiver, you can transfer recorded events from the receiver's HD to the EHD for extra storage and view the contents from the EHD but you can't transfer the contents from the EHD to your PC. When you plug the EHD into your PC, it will ask you to reformat the HD, which if you do reformat, you will lose all the contents on the HD. I hope this helps.

    thanks for the answwer, yes this is helpful. does anyone know of any other ways of being able to transfer your recorded program from the dish built in hard drive for archiving to dvd. A lot of what I will tape is just so I can watch itand then delete it, however some of the content especially the series like I shouldnt be alive other members of the family also enjoy watching so would like to be able to archive it to a recordable dvd for this purpose, similar to how u could use a casette tape. Is there any cables I could buy that could connect it to the computer to allow me to do this or can I buy a dvd recorder and plug this in and record it. any sugestions would be helpful. The freview recorder that I am looking at is the new dish dv satelite recorder.

    or is there a dvd recorder already out that can run off the satelite system I could look at, preferably not to expensive $700 max. any suggestions would be much appreciated.

I reviewed your post on here, brentcopemen, and wanted to help get you toward a resolution with that! As we're not certain as to whether you can transfer something already recorded, unless you view the recording and record on the DVD at the same time, you would need to check with the DVD manufacturer to see if that can be done.

Let me know if you have any other questions!

How do you tune in tv channels when you only have a signal input from a satelite dish and no sky decoder. TV is a sharp lc-32l400x with built in freeview. Can we plug dish straight into TV aerial port...

You require a satelite decoder/receiver for your dish and an aerial for your TV.
The choice is yours. Plug a satelite receiver, for freesat, into the A/V input on the TV or have an aerial installed for freeview.

TV ''Dish'' not working on second TV

check sat in cable, if cracks or breaks in line can cause sfss. also on back of receiver you want to make sure that sat in cable has a little copper wire sticking straight up and that its getting a good connection on the back of the receiver.

Don't Know how to program Dish satelite or tv with my remote.

to program the dish remote to the receiver you need to access system info, if there is no system info button on the receiver turn the receiver off and press the up arrow on the front panel, then press record on the remote, to change the remote address hold down sat until all buttons illuminate, enter number between 1-15, press pound sign, then press record

to address a remote to the tvyou need the remote code for that brand or you can do a power scan

Can i hook up to my satelite dish direct or do i have to go thru my receiver first. Thanks; Delmar currah@mts.net

The satelite dish will not pass-through the video/audio from your DVD player. You will need to find an open area (preferably DVD selector) on your receiver to input the DVD video/audio. Most satelite boxes are one way devices.

Satelite box --> Receiver (satelite input)--> TV
DVD Player --> Receiver (DVD Player input) --> TV

or

Satelite box --> TV
DVD Player --> TV

this is not so easy to do.you have to read a lot to become familar with the terminology involved.you can start by googling fta on the internet.through some of the sites you will get the information you seek.or you can point dish to the various satellites and test the signals to see if you get what you are looking for.
