I accidentally took my usb stick out while the machine was stitching and now it will not read the usb when I send the design by send1

Your drive is probably corrupt. Try to get a copy of the pattern on the PC hard drive. Then format the stick. To do this: PC: insert the stick, go to my computer, find the stick, right click it, and click format. Check "Quick format", unless you have a lot of time and are very patient. Then, put the pattern on the stick. Mac: open utilities, then find drive manager (I don't think that's what it's called, but something close to that.) then highlight the drive, and click format. Now that the stick is formatted, copy the pattern onto the stick, then retry sewing it. DO NOT UNPLUG THE STICK DURING THE FILE COPY, THE DRIVE FORMAT, OR THE SEWING! Hope I helped!

How to use Toshiba Media Player

Is the USB drive able to be read on your PC / Laptop ?

It COULD be that the USB drive has been 'Formatted' (made ready to receive files) but not in the 'FAT32' mode. It WILL say so in your TV manual.
PCs can read all format USB sticks but TVs are fussy and generally only work if the USB stick is formatted 'FAT32' and not 'NTFS' (which it probably is.
1) Put the stick in your PC - right click on it from 'my computer.'
2) Format the USB drive with FAT32,
3) Reload the stick from your PC with the photos.
4) Plug it in your TV.

It will be fine.

The memory chip inside your stick has failed, the stick is dead. Junk this and get a new one.

How to format my write protected usb stick

If there's a switch on the stick, switch that to turn off write protection.
Place the USB stick in your machine. Go to "My Computer", and then right click on the drive icon (pick the right one, it should have an image of a thumb drive or say "Usb" in the title), and select "Format". You'll want to format it to Fat32.
Note, this will delete everything on th drive you format. Make sure you get the right drive!

Can my designer 1 be updated to use a cd and a usb port.

In one word: No. Sorry. It can be updated to a USB port, but the port will only accept Husqvarna formatted USB sticks, not an external CD drive. This is not to say you have to purchase Husqvarna USB sticks as well as pay for the USB upgrade - it will take any USB sticks, they just have to be formatted with the Husqvarna software which comes with the upgrade.

Windows cannot format USB memory sticks, you need the HP USB memory format tool . Get it here.

(1) Cannot connect by USB to or from Macintosh MacBook OS10.6.2. Not visible in Disk Utility nor Unix /Volumes. (2) USB stick works if not partitioned to GUID first, i.e., a new FAT-32 stick works but GUID...

1) Obviously you can connect SOME devices over USB, as specified in your statement #2. If the problem is wider than that stated in #2, please be more specific.
2) The behavior you describe is symptomatic of counterfeit USB sticks. Some low-cost counterfeits accept formatting to their advertised capacity, but there is really no memory there. When formatted with formats that require data at the end of the address space, these drives will fail.
3) This is an artifact of moving Macintosh files onto a PC format disk. If you don't want this to happen, ZIP the files before moving them to the USB stick.
