Question about Televison & Video

DVD Player does not turn on

I bought a JVC DVD Player with surround sound combo a few years ago, and been using it trouble free since. On my return from a weekend away I found it completely dead. Cannot switch on. I first thought it must just be power, so I disconnected and reconnected the mains to the unit but nothing. One strange thing that I noticed is that when I connect the mains the normal green power LED at the fron of the unit glashes RED twice. Is this some sort of error indication?

Model of unit = XV-THS7

Any help appreciated.

We purchased a jvc DRMV150 dvd/vcr combo about a year ago, since then, no problems, Until Now! :( First, only just a few weeks ago, it will not stay powered on, after any timer recording has just got...

About a year ago still gives you full UK free guarantee rights (if you're in the UK but similar rights operate elsewhere) and JVC aren't the ones to haggle about a few days (or more) over the date.
Get it straight back to where you bought it first.
They have to do the rest.
Just before that try pulling the AC plug of the unit out and leave it like that for 10 minutes or so then plug back in, switch on and see whats happening then.

I have a JVC DVD player that doesnt come with surround sound but i have surround sound speakers is there something I can buy so that I am able to use the speakers

If you have surround speakers with a surround system, then connect the Player to the surround system using for example RCA cables (White and Red).

If you have speakers only, connecting many speakers to a non-surround system won't give you surround.
In surround systems the sound is controlled, elaborated and distributed through the speakers by a circuit.

If you wnt surround sound the alternatives are :

  1. Connecting a surround system (eg.Home theater, receiver) to the player (amp+speakers)
  2. Upgrading the DVD to one with surround.
Let me know if you need more help.

bye.

no, u cant use the speakers with other normal DVD player because it wont have amplification for the speakers... u can use the sub to other dvd player because its inbuilt 120 watt woofer. ur dvd player is 5-disc player as wel as 120 X 2 and 80 X 3 watts amplifier (AV receiver ).... so just the JVC better sound thru the sub and speakers... Umi freeview dvd tv combo to surround sound

I am not familiar with the manufacture and model of your TV set. This does appear to be a compatibility issue between the TV set and its DVD player, and the surround speaker system. The TV set may not be able to directly send the proper information to the speakers. I would consider to call the manufacture support people to have a definate answer.

JVC HR-XVC37U Combo problem

You have the child lock (CL) turned on.
Your instruction manual will have the information about turning it on or off.

It's purely t prevent small fingers doing bad things to expensive electrical equipment. =)

If you cannot locate the info in the manual, post back and I will hnt the relevant info for you.
