There is not a direct connection you can use on this receiver, so you option is to purchase an inexpensive adapter that hooks into the headphone jack of you iPod/iPhone/iPad and splits off into an audio/video cable with a red and white RCA connection. Then you may either chose to hook it into the front input or a specific rear input to send the output to the receiver and play music through your receiver. I don't know for sure, but if you are looking to be able to control it via a remote also and potentially gain video output I think there may be an accessory docking station you can connect to your receiver and doc it to. Check the manufacturers website to see if your model supports this accessory.

My receiver works fine when I plug my iPod into it, but when I plug my turntable in I can't get any sound. Any idea?

The phono cartridge on your turntable puts out a much lower level signal than your iPod. Back when turntables were popular, all receivers had a special phono input to take care of that. Your modern HK receiver does not have a phono input, so you need to get an external phono preamp. Plug the turntable outputs into the phono preamp inputs, then plug the phono preamp outputs into one of the audio inputs on the HK, like where you connected the iPod.

Sound is really quiet with inputs

Hello. Please be sure that you are plugging your iPod into the tape in, or play, and not into the record out, or record. If you have these reversed, you will greatly lower the signal level going to the amplifier.

Harman kardon avr 140 - all displays work but no sound

I have an HK AVR140 all of the displays work, even shows when a digital connection from the Blu-Ray player is connected but no audio comes from the speakers! I found some information that HK does not have DC protection so when there is a problem muting Circuit is initiated on the main Amp. I called HK and they want me to send it in to a service dept that is not close at all. Any ideas? Or is there a way to by-pass the muting circuit somehow?

Harman Kardon go + play problem

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Appreciate the direct "Ask Me".

Initially, pls try cleaning the battery terminals. In some instances, it may be necessary to scrape them to remove corrosion. Still there are times they may have to be bent or stretched to ensure that they provide more pressure to the batteries. Alternately, pls try to confirm that the AC adapter is working by checking for the presence of voltage on the plug/connector with the use of a voltmeter.

Should the above not address your concern, then it is most likely that the problem is internal electronics and the unit is simply going into protective mode. You then have a choice of performing a DIY (do-it-yourself) or seeking the services of a qualified professional.

Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa. Happy Holidays.

2) On Radio Shack, you can bring the jacks for a replacement.
3) install the new jacks! according to the HK model.
