What does back-up to sd card mean?

the camera has internal memory and also will have the option for external memory. If you have a sd memory card in the camera you can backup the internal memory to the sd card.
Then you can remove the sd card and put in a new sd card and you now have an sd card with your precious photo memory's copied from the camera internal memory. You may have a camera that allows two sd cards one for the photos and one to back up the photos. If you had your camera stolen or lost you would lose all the photos on the camera but with a backup sd card you still have the photo files. Also a p.c with a card reader device could read the files on the sd card and you could copy them into a cloud storage on the net or onto a network storage device or onto a usb portable drive with 2 terrabyte capacity .

My Kodak easyshare c613 says internal memory is full, then it goes to memory card requires formatting. i dont want to delete my internal photos i want save them into my memory card

you can save them to computer via usb, any new photos will store to the memory card.
unaware that you can transfer between device and card as the processor probably cannot handle the data of read and write at the same time.

Formated card by mistake have now lost all photos is there anyway to retrive from internal memory

If the pictures were on the memory card then they were never in the internal memory and cannot be recovered from there.

However, if you haven't done anything to the card since then, you may be able to recover at least some of the pictures. Do a Google search for "data recovery software" and select a program for your computer and operating system. Put the memory card into a card reader attached to your computer and run the program.

Well If the photos you want to retrieve are on the 15Mo of internal memory, there is not much to do here except to see a repair center.

If they are not on the internal memory, open the Battery hatch of your camera, push on the small card that is close to the battery, then take the card out.
Now you can plug this card directly in a card reader.
If you have a laptop you might have a compatible card reader on it, otherwise buy one, it is always usefull.
Retrieving the photo this way on any camera saves battery and is usually faster than when using an USB cable.

Hope this helps

I have a fujifilm finepix s1600 and it doesn't save my photos anymore. the photos aren't save neither in the internal memory or on a memory card. after i make a photo and press de display button it...

I wish manufacturers would eliminate the internal memory....it causes nothing but problems for us. Try this...with no card in the camera, go into the menu and find "format"...follow the on-screen instructions to erase the internal memory. Then, download any pics from your memory card using a separate card reader if necessary. Then, format the card in the camera. After this, your card should work.

Having pics on both the internal memory and a memory card is asking for trouble. Take out the card and download the internal memory to your computer. Then, go into the menu and find "format" and erase the internal memory. Then, download all the pics from the memory card using a separate card reader. Then, insert the card into the camera and do the format thing again to erase and optimize the card. Now you have a fresh start...never use the internal memory again.

Wot is the memory card slot for

HI,
The memory slot is an expansion slot that you can put a camera card (SD card) into so you save all you photo's to that instead of the internal memory.
This is because your camera only has a limited amount of internal memory limiting you to the amount of pictures you can save on the camera.

Purchasing a memory (SD card) is certainly an advantage and they can be used in card readers, MP3 players and computers etc.

Transfering photos back to memory card

Hi, Welcome to FixYa.

You can do it through your laptop's card reader or using a card reader device.

Take your memory card out from the camera and put it in the
adapter(a card holder) given to you. Now you can use it in Laptops
in built-in card reader/ card reader device.
If the SD memory card is read only this will not work, otherwise
this way you can copy photos to Card very easily. Also you can copy
photos from memory card in the same way

When I try and download my VPC-T850 digital camera it lock up my whole computer

It's very hard to troubleshoot software problems online, and it likely is a software issue. But as a solution I highly recommend that you instead consider a card reader to download your photos to your computer. They're very inexpensive, much faster downloading photos from the camera, do not use the camera's batteries during download, and are much less prone to file corruption of the photos during the download.
You place the camera's card in the reader, and your computer sees it as a hard drive. You simply copy/paste or drag/drop your photos onto your hard drive. For all of these reasons, most professional photographers utilize card readers exclusively. Really, you'll save yourself a lot of heartache. Here are some examples from Amazon. Also, don't be fooled by the cost. some of the cheap ones work just fine. Go by the reviews. Also make sure you get a reader that is stated capable of reading your card (particularly if you have SDHC):

For international readers, here's another source for card readers (free international shipping too :-)
