How to use Danby DDR5511R, please help. When I turn it on, It runs aproximately 5 to 10 minutes and then stop. Please help.

It may be running a cycle based on the humidity level in your home and the humidity level you have the controls set on. The lower the humidity setting (i.e 35%) the more humidity it will remove and the longer it will run. until the humidity level in your home reaches 35%. Of course all of this is predicated on how high the humidity level is in your home. If you have the humidity level to be removed set above 55%, it's not going to have to run to long. As that's a pretty high level of humidity. It simply is going to maintain that 55% level.

Danby ddr5511r owner manual


Yess the DDR5511R has the drain hose connection inside the compartment where the water bucket sits. It is at the top right corner. You have to remove the water drawer to see it. At the right side of the unit (on the outside) is a small "door" that flips up so that you can feed a hose throught to the threaded outet inside. The drain hose is not supplied with this unit.

The easiest way to reset it is to Turn the unit Off and unplug it for 15 minutes.Then plug *** back in and turn it ON. During the 15 minute timeout, it should have had time to reset itself and revert back to the original factory settings. Now, you can set the controls, as you like.

The Danby Millennium Dehumidifer goes not condense any more. Have unpluged the unit, cleaned all of the filters. Is there a way to reset the unit from the controls?


If you unplugged the heater for 12-15 minutes, after turning OFF the Master On/OFF Switch, the electronics should reset themselves. Also, be sure that you don't have the humidity level set to high. Anything above 60% wont' extract any moisture to speak of. If your unit doesn't have an LED display, set the unit on Minimum.

The water collection bucket may not be activating the safety trigger, when it's put back in place. Check that first. If that checks out OK, turn the Master ON/OFF Switch to OFF and unplug the unit for 12-15 minutes. Then plug the unit back in and Turn the Master ON/OFF Switch to ON. Hopefully, during that 12-15 minute timeout, the unit reset itself and you set the controls as you normally do.

Yes, the safety trigger sensor can be replaced if parts for that unit are still available. But, sometimes, it's more trouble than it's worth. Especially, if the unit has a few years on it.

The model number you listed did not reveal anything. However, the link below is a link to a Danby model, that had a model number closest to yous. Most of the units have the same parts and function. Click n the literature tab and the Owners Manual will come up.

Flashing green light stays on, unit won't start when you press the on/off button


I believe the unit needs to me reset to the manufacturer's default settings. To do this, turn the Master ON/OFF Switch to OFF and unplug the unit from the outlet for 10 - 15 minutes. Then plug the unit back into the wall outlet and turn the Master ON/OFF Switch to ON. The green light will blink until you change the humidity setting to below what the humidity level is in your home. If you set it higher, it will not turn ON or will turn ON only for a couple of minutes.

Also, check the position of the water collection bucket, to make sure that it's installed properly and has triggered the safety device.

To help you more, I have included a link to your Owners Manual that you can download and print for future reference, if you have misplaced yours. Take good care of your unit and perform routine maintenance regularly. As Danby has discontinued (retired) your model humidifier.

E3 error code on danby dhcc6020, its new out of box. tried danby service rep. , cant get a response back from them. any ideas on how to fix?

The Danby Service Rep. helped me with my question about my P1 code (for DDR657EE).

P1 error


Your question needs to be answered in 3 parts:

1) As per the manual for my Danby Dehumidifier (Model DDR657EE), the unit may not turn on immediately when powered On (it may take a several minutes). So, generally, it would be normal in your case.

2) Danby's Consumer Help Line (1-800-263-2629) is always busy. So, I called their General number: 419-425-8627. The receptionist transferred my call to their Service dept. My call was answered in 2 minutes.

The Service Rep. described the following code for my dehumidifier model (DDR657EE):
P1 = Defrosting: the unit will go into Defrost mode periodically to ensure that the parts are working at the right operating temperature. It should be in Defrost (P1) mode for only a brief period of time. If the unit is in Defrost (P1) mode continuously for a couple of hours (or more), then you should call Danby Service for further assistance.

He had no documentation of a P2 code for my model.

He also described other General Codes (applicable to most Dehumidifier/Humidifier models):
E1 = Not enough water
E2 = Not draining
E3 = Water temperature too cool
E4 = Overflow Switch activated
E6 / E7 = Problem with Temperature Sensor

So, generally, if you see P1 periodically (for brief periods), then it would be normal.

3) Since your unit keeps running (continuously) and there is no water in the bucket, then you should call Danby ServiceI for additional assistance - it seems defective for this reason.
