there could be 2 possible issues, although i'm presuming your set up

The first one is that the cable that connects between the box and the tv is faulty or not connecting correctly, simpley remove and re-fit or try a new cable

if the line of red is always on screen, this could be a fault with the panel (screen) which cannot be fix, or if it can it will be jolly expensive

Try to adjust the vertical hold trimer.In adjusting the trimer you look the screen while adjusting the trimer until the screen or picture back to normal.

Looks like your LCD screen got some dead pixels.

My suggestion would be to bring that laptop to your nearest service center or technician and have them check the monitor.

Am afraid to tell you that most dead pixels are unrepairable, hope that only the connection on the LCD screen are at fault.

change some vertical resistance or 1.0k pf near vertical section or dry soldring & pf near EHT section

some parts inside your tv is damage or short circuited. too expensive to fix or replace

just replace the card! your riding on a very old one you can find replacement of that age for like 5 dollars good luck!

I contacted Canon and they told me that there was a recall on the camera for this problem. They are sending a label so that I can send it back to them to be repaired.
No charge to you for the information although, you would have charged me.

This is a vertical deflection problem, These are the possible causes:

1) bad vertical coupling capacitor
2) bad vertical output IC
3) bad vertical driver IC
4) bad CRT deflection yoke

Troubleshooting needed:
1) using the TVs schematic locate the driver IC the output IC and the CRT yoke transformer.
2) using an oscilloscope look at the vertical driver signal it should be a sawtooth signal from the driver to the yoke (increasing in amplitude for each section, i. e. driver and output).
3) if no sawtooth patter is seen that is your problem, look for the component in the section where signal is entering but nothing is coming out.
4) replace the components

Now let me tell you something, don't continue to play the TV with the line present with brightness applied, this will burn the image of the line into the phosphorous coating of the CRT.

The screen is purple with wiggly vertical lines. I'm going on a trip tomorrow. Help!

Once in the Didigtal Array screen, can you move the red in that corner horizontally and vertically? You should be able to do this with the remote control, no special tools needed for this model. If you can't move it then you will need to replace your convergence output IC's they are location numbers IK04 and IK05 and are usually generic part numbers STK392-110.
