The ADF is the "automatic document feeder". It's at the top of the printer. It's where you place multiple sheets of paper on a tray to get fed into the copying part of the printer.
There is either a sheet of paper jammed in there or a piece of a paper stuck in there.

I lost the installation cd to my dell All in One photo 964. Is there anyway I can get anotherone mailed to me, or can I download it online?

No, Dell will not send out printer disks. The drivers can be downloaded at...

Dell 964 Photo All-In-One Printer owners thread (W7) Since you have no printer disk, you'll need an OCR Program so youm can scan documents. Simple OCR should work nicely with this printer.

Is there a fix for the compatiblity issue of the Dell AIO 964 and Dell Studio (64 bit) laptop?

From the manufacturer's web-site:

http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/driverslist.aspx?c=us&cs=2684&l=en&s=pub&os=WW1&osl=en&catid=&impid=&SystemID=PRN_ALL_A960

(for the 'AIO 960', not your 'AIO 964' model), there currently is no "64-bit" drivers. Will the 32-bit driver work?????

I could not find ANY information about the '964' printer.

ADF Jam

It sounds like the grabbing wheels in the document feeder are losing their grip. You can take alcohol to rub down and clean the rubber tires in the document feeder. There is a possibility that a very small piece of paper is jammed in the feeder as well, which can cause the paper to jam and make a weird noise. Please let me know if this resolves your issue. Thank you.

Heard lexmark makes Dell printers. If so,could you tell me the equivalent Lexmark to the Dell all=in=one 964?

Dell's Photo All-In-One Printer 964 uses internals similar to the Lexmark P4350's, with corresponding inks and driver software, but adds an automatic document feeder (ADF) and color fax capabilities.
If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it.
Thanks, Joe
