Joe - thanks but we live in a regional area and origin don't offer this service.
Do you have any instructions in the actual removal of the covers to access the pilot light area, as I asked in my request.

Interesting but I do know how to use a screw driver.

The issue is where are the pivot points to remove the cover to access the screws and then the pilot light.... The cover seems to be spring loaded, with a locking mechanism....

I am not impressed by your customer service level to date...

I will not be recommending your service to others, but the opposite.

Good day!

if you need the instructions in the actual removal of the covers to access the pilot light are.

Just unscrew the cover by using screw driver.

If you still don't remove the cover just look for the possible lock inside to access the pilot light.

Thank you

Hello deb.... your best solution is to call your gas provider. they have a free service whereby they come to your home and do a safety check of your heater. then they instruct you on the best way to light it etc. Joe

Pilot light is lit but won't turn on water heater

What band and type water heater do you have? And about how old is the water heater? Add a comment with more information.

Following general information applies to tank-type residential water heater.
If pilot light is working, then thermocouple is good. Otherwise, if thermocouple was bad, or fallen out of place, then there would be no pilot flame.
Carefully read instructions for lighting water heater located on front of tank ... make sure you have the gas control valve set to ON.
At this point, troubleshoot varies widely depending if your water heater is older and air enters front of heater, or if water heater was made after 2007-9 and has sealed combustion chamber and FV system.'
Troubleshoot also varies widely depending if you have power vent and which type of gas control valve.

The part you described is the heaters Control Valve for your Infrared Gas Heater. It is an expensive part to replace. If one is still available for your older unit.

You failed to mention where (what country you're in), but Vulcan has been popular in Australia for many years, So I'm assuming you're in Australia.

Pilot lights but won't stay on in my older style vulcan space heater. thermo couple was replaced last year.any ideas that i could try thanks

Most common cause of pilot light problems is air movement. If your space heater exhausts gas through the roof, ensure the cap is on and level. If not, outside air movement will blow out the pilot. If you do not have an exhaust gas duct, check that the unit is positioned so that it does not blow air back onto itself from walls, furniture, etc, and ensure no other devices that move air are aimed towards the unit. The unit also needs to be placed away from central ducting, including return vents.

Hope this helps!

How do you light a pilot light for my GE gas dryer? Model = DDG7188PHLWH

How old is your dryer? Only models from the 1980's and older have actual pilot flame lighters. If it's newer it will have either a spark igniter or an electric glow bar. If you have a large front access panel across the bottom, then you may have a pilot light. Remove the panel and look for the gas valve. (NOTE: Before lighting anything, make sure you do not smell gas. If you do, you'll need to air the room out before trying) There will be a burner coming out the back of the gas valve control and this control will have a red push button in the front or side of it to allow gas to the pilot only. Using a extended bbq type lighter, light the pilot at the pilot assembly and hold the button for about 60 seconds. The pilot assembly is connected to the gas valve control by a small diameter aluminum tubing with a copper thermocouple right next to it. Release and make sure the pilot stays lit. Before putting the access panel back on, turn on the dryer and watch for the burner to light. It should be a strong blue flame. Let us know if we can help you further. Not knowing why your pilot went out in the first place, there may be a unforeseen issue that may need attention. If you have a propane gas dryer and you ran out of gas, then it may take a while to get gas to the pilot, so be patient when trying to light it. Never hold the button down without the lighter lit at the pilot assembly, so there is not a build-up of gas. If you are not comfortable doing this, I recommend you call your gas co to light it for you, as many will do it for free! Good luck and be careful!

Noisy pilot light Vulcan Quasar 40

Simply clean out the jet tube with a fine wire, the sound you hear is the gas blowing by the irregular edges, and swirling and not mixing and producing sound waves, (Bit like a flute) So, you need to clean the tube right out, and smooth off the end again, & sorta "Countersink", Flame the end too, at the end.use a very fine needle file, and make it look like new, that will sort your problem out. Then adjust so you have a good gas flow. Also check out it isn't blocked too.

Have a 20yr + old vulcan gas heater and I cannot turn pilot off

Hi, If you are talking about the knob on a gas valve that you use to light the pilot and turn it off also, you have to turn the knob either ccw or cw to turn it off. To light the pilot is when you turn the knob to pilot and push down and hold it, light the pilot while you continue to push it down for a minute, and then slowly release it and pilot will stay lite. So, if this is the type you have just turn knob one way or the other and it will shut off. If you do not have this type set up, just turn off the gas to the furnace at the flex line as there should be a hand valve by code and by law that supplys gas to you're furnace. You can shut it off there and the pilot will also shut off.
Sincerely,
Shastalaker7
PS If you don't have either one of these shut off's, on the main gas valve it self, you should have a place marked pilot adjustment. Pop the small chrome cap and insert a very small screw driver to turn it cw to shut off pilot. This would be you're last choice.
