Question about Acer Aspire 5315 Notebook

1 Answer

I have an Acer Aspire 5315 laptop. When I bought it, it included a DVD-burning program. Naturally, I assumed I could write a DVD on this, but I don't seem to be able to. I am using a DVD+R disc.

@argo. It's no good. My laptop won't even acknowledge the disc is inserted into the drive.

  • ramoniagoode May 26, 2011

Tried three other DVD burning programs. None of them would acknowledge a blank disc in the drive.

Saddly not all are what they appear to be , had similar prob myself.

Try burning a CD with this prog. Its a naughty way of getting you to upgrade. Fingers crossed!

Hello ramoniagoode . Would by chance have another computer you could try prog in that?

Hey what am I thinking, silly me, no prods, if you really are looking for a burn prog, go google or your fav seach engine, type in FREE BURNERS progs.

There is a lot to choose from, but be warned, it will be basic, there will be upgrades or trial periods, requiring money up front.

    Sorry can't be more positive.

  • ramoniagoode May 26, 2011

Already tried 3 other programs, none of them were able to acknowledge a blank disc in the drive.

  • Argospete May 26, 2011

Hmm, sorry sounds like the cd/dvd may be suspect, thinking on it may just be a diriver and no burner capabilities, does the laptop manual state it is a burner/player or read only?

  • ramoniagoode May 26, 2011

I don't have the manual anymore. I'm using a 4 year old laptop. The manual vanished in a previous move.

Contact ACER. If you purchased the computer, it came with Windows "preinstalled".
So, ACER will provide you with a replacement set of "System Restore" CD/DVD disks.

im assuming the "eject" button is not respomding, no worries REAL easy fix, if you have a paper clip, if not find something the same diameter, if so, unfold paper clip and there should be a small hole on the door next to the "eject" button, insert end of paper clip, retrieve dvd.. :)

My cd dvd burner is burning in megabytes instead

You mean the display should be in minutes and not as per size. You have not mentioned what drive model is. Anyway, you can set it up in the settings/options/preferences from the CD burning program that you are using. Please do that.

Try with another brand of disk; the Matsushita UJ870 drive of our 5315 burn my Sony CD's but not my Philips CD's (my Compaq V2617LA with an older Matsushita UJ840 drive has burned Phillips CD's in the last two monts)... Remember: CD and DVD lassers are different. I think because of that, i haven't see problems with Sony, Philips and Samsung DVD's... only with CD's...
