Hi,

You need to adjust the thread tension of your machine. Please check this link for the owner's manual of the machine and ccheck on page 14 to adjust the thread tension:-

http://docs.google.com/viewer?a=v&q=cache:3mhkD7MPwrIJ:parts.singerco.com/IPinstManuals/20U.pdf+singer+20u+manual&hl=en&gl=in&pid=bl&srcid=ADGEEShKXZNsdSREqPS4ErGzZs4kgHL9ze5jW2EwsJWZ1GoQgEghndZdE04iR4A9xL5AoVrqfS6mLzTTnW_jP87tckVvfcbV1bL3cQu2cj_-7VTDY7ffmKXD1vJzHZF4CUQyTp-wtPGQ&sig=AHIEtbR-X6T21qSVGFdfRY5TnZ3S9VNX-A

Check as per the owner's manual that you have threaded your machine correctly. Also Remove your needle plate/throat plate and your bobbin case and clean out any lint, threads, doughnut crumbs, or other debris and clean your machine thoroughly .Also check the condition of the needle whether its bent or not. Also, make certain your bobbin is locked into position in its case and the thread is coming from the bobbin in the correct direction. Also adjust the pressure, threadin the bobbin case ,winding the bobbin as per the owner's manual.

Please get back to us if you have further query else please accept the suggestion.

How to thread the singer 20u33? The tension assembly is new, don't know where the wire is sposed to be...

When you thread the top thread, the thread will drop down on the right side of the tension mechanism and go around the bottom (clockwise) and up the left side. Grab the thread somewhere above the tension mechanism with your right hand and then pull the toward the right (as though you are going to close the circle around the tension disk. The thread should pull on the metal wire (spring) and your thread should pop into the correct position of the tension disk. When you release the thread, the wire spring should pop back to the left. Then you will continue threading through the remaining thread guides and the take-up lever.

I have a singer 31K 20 that won't pick up the bottom thread can anyone help please?

Install a brand new needle and confirm it is installed correctly.

Changing thread brands may be helpful. AVOID old or bargain bin threads. Focus on spending a bit more for better quality thread.

If it still does not work, it could be the machine is out of time. Search for sewing machine timing or take it for service.

My top thread keeps picking by the bottom thread is fine doesn't seem to matter what the tension is set on

check that you have the top thread between the tension plates
it is common that when threading the machine the top thread will fall behind the tensioner and run around the mounting thread

Singer quantum XL-150 how do i thread this machine?

All Singer models would have arrows/numbers to guide your top threading from the spool pin to top thread guide, for most machine start from your thread spool pin, to a thread guide follow arrow down then up into the take up lever and down to the needle thread guide then into the needle hole. Assuming you have wind and install the bobbin thread into the bobbin case, turn your hand wheel towards you makes the needle bar goes down, keep on turning till the needle bar is fully up again, pull the end of the top thread to pick out the bobbin/bottom thread. With your material/fabric under the presser feet, apply the presser feet lever down, you are ready to sew.

Singer model 629 wont pick up bottom thread

If your needle isn't picking up the bottom thread, lower your needle just a bit. Only the top of the needle head should be up inside the shank.

Singer Futura II - Model 920 My bottom thread will not pick up and the top thread piles in a ball. I did thread the machine with the presser foot raised. Could there be a tension problem? Also where should...

you might try checking the needle, it could be damaged, bent, or blunt
then see if you can pick up the bobbin thread.
if you still can't pick up the bobbin thread it's possible that the machine could be out of time.. it would need to be serviced by a sewing machine repair shop & they can tell you if your sewing machine is one that has to be oiled or a self oiling machine.

The bobbin thread is not engaging with the top thread. I have changed the needle and cleaned the bobbin area. If the timing belt timing is not et correctly, is there a way for me to fix it or do I have...

Any sewing machine mechanic should be able to adjust the timing I would think.

There is information on adjusting timing on www.sewusa.com but I'd guess that it applies to mechanical machines.

Try this link http://www.sewusa.com/Sewing_Machine_Repair/Sewing%20Machine%20Hook%20Timing.htm and have a look at the different images, you'll need to look at the image for the rotary hook design you have (most Singers were vertical front loading).

Other possibility is to join one of the Yahoo groups for Singer owners and see if there is information available, sometimes they have files of repair info or members who share information. "Wefixit" or "Singer" is a couple of the groups but if you go to Yahoo, Groups, then type in "repair singer" there is several groups there.
