Question about Roameo 595 Dog Pet Gps System Tracking Device Collar

1 Answer

I have owned this GPS dog collar for 1.5 yrs. with very few probelms. Now I can bring the system up but a short time the number of feet registered on the collar will start to change dramatically, ie the dog is about 100 feet away which it registers correctly but then in a few minutes the number of feet moves to 400 or 900 or if I leave in on long enough it has gone as high as 103K --- and the dog is still within 100 feet. I bought new batteries and unfortunately that didn't solve the problem. Thanking you in advance for any help you can offer.

One thing that happens with dog collars, as well as all outside devices, is that the battery terminals can get slightly oxidized, and in need of a good cleaning. You can use a qtip and alcohol to clean them off good. Clean both the receiver and dog collar's terminals, and see if that fixed the problem. Hopefully it will.
Other than that, the unit(s) will have to be serviced, to find the fault. Get an estimate before servicing, as it can be expensive.
Also, if cleaning doesn't help, and repair is too costly, keep an eye out on Ebay for one. You can often find a barely used or new unit at a very good price there.
Good luck, and hope this helps.

Yes! Most of the dogs have this tendency to eat their own
poop which gets them into trouble. They fall sick due to this. It is necessary

What is a GPS dog collar?

A GPS collar is a great device that helps locate lost dogs or monitor your pet when you leave them alone. It informs you of your dogs exact location while you are not with them.

I bought a Garmin 1450 but Ican't seem to register

  • To register your garmin you connect it to your computer with the mini USB cable
  • Go to www.garmin.com and select your country from the drop-down list
  • Click on the "myGarmin" tab at the top of the screen
  • Click on "Register your garmin product" at the left side of the screen
  • Click on "Automotive" and follow the prompts.
You'll be asked to create a username and password. Keep them safe as you'll need them anytime you want to update your maps.

If you want to set a PIN number on your satnav which it will look for each time you turn it on;
  • Press TOOLS on the bottom right corner of the screen which shows WHERE TO and VIEW MAP
  • Press SETTINGS
  • Press SECURITY
  • Press GARMIN LOCK
It will ask you for a 4 digit pin. Also you'll be given the option to set a secure location. Be sure to do so and use a place that you can get to easily and where you have around 20 feet clear space around you. If you forget the PIN number the only way to remove the pin is to go to this secure location. As the GPS is not 100% accurate when you return to this location the satnav may think you're a few feet out and you may need to move around for it to unlock. This is why you need the space around where you set it.

You can get a user manual from http://static.garmincdn.com/pumac/nuvi_1100_1200_1300_1400_OM.pdf

I own 15 garmin dc30 collars and when hunting they are spred out in no specific order over 3 astro 220 hand held units. I am having trouble receiving all of the collars. On one unit i may pick up for...

Hi, thanks for posting your Question..

At times you may experience Problems with a Garmin Astro DC30 Collar. I've heard And experienced reports of the following problems with Garmin DC 30 Collars

Before trying to do a Hard Reset for the Garmin Astro 220 DC30 Collar you should try and identify if it is the collar or the 220 Receiver. the easiest way you can do this is to check your Tracking System with another collar. If the second collar works fine then you can assume that you DC30 is not working as it should.

First i would Check all the basics, make sure the collar is charged.

I also would Delete and Re establish the Dog Collar in you system by going to the Dog List on the menu of the Astro 200, I would probably recommend Resetting the 220 receiver since it is much easier to reset that than the Collar.

Lastly, If these do not fix your problem you should try to "reset" the DC30 by

Removing the Back Plate (silver piece)

While Your looking at the connections for the two antennas, I would check to make sure there is nothing wrong with both the GPS antenna connection, and the VHF Antenna on the collar. Personally I carefully disconnect each and make sure they are both clean and free of Debris and Junk. (good Solid connection here will only help the performance of the collar) You can carefully use a brush or electronics contact cleaner for the VHF antenna (Screw mount) (See images below). I would not put anything into the SMP (square Antenna wire connector)

Removing the VHF Antenna on a DC30

Clean this before re-installing. Very Important to have a good Electrical connection3. Remove the Four Small Philips screws on the outside of the case to access the battery and electronics compartment. Very Carefully Disconnect the white battery connector from the board (see images below). Leave the battery Disconnected for about 15-20 minutes for a full reset, Reconnect it to the board.. (CAREFULLY) Here you Can see the battery Connector for the DC 30 Garmin

As you re-assemble the Garmin DC30, Clean all seals and clean antenna connections.

That is A Garmin DC30 Reset Instructions, and Many times when you are having Problems with Garmin DC30 collars this is the First step Garmin will ask you to do before sending them back.

Here is how to Mark a Location other than your location. For example You might want to mark the Tree before you get to it in case your dogs leave the tree. Most of the time If you are like myself You want to Scroll over and Hit the Mark Button, However that will just Mark Your current Location and not the location that your cursor is.

Here are the instructions To mark a location where your cursor is on your Astro 220.

Press map

Scroll the cursor over to the location you want to mark.

Press (ENTER) instead of pressing Mark.

If you press Mark it will mark your current location..

After you press enter.

It will either Select something that you've scrolled over and you should be able to save that as a Location, (Hint: you can change the name to what ever you want before you save it.)

Or if it doesn't select something it will say "no Map info at this point. Do You want to Mark a location here"

I know it's pretty confusing and counter intuitive, But that's how you can mark a location where you are not at.

If your Antenna's are not too OK,you can get a replacement from the below link:
