Yes, that means it's working, Basically, the lower the humidity setting, the more moisture it removes from the household air. The higher the setting, the less it will remove and run less, too. Once the water reservoir or "bucket" as most folks call it, is full the unit will shut off automatically and the bucket FULL light will come on. You will need to remove the bucket from the front of the unit and empty it (I prefer emptying it in the bath tub or shower). Then carefully replace it the unit, so that it triggers the safety switch and the FULL light goes out and the unit will restart automatically, if necessary.

You didn't list the model number of your Danby Dehumidifier. But all Danby units work pretty much the same. To help you further I have included a link to the Owners Manual for the Danby DDR25E (this also covers 2 other models) that you can download and print for future reference. Read it thoroughly and become familiar with it's operation and the required Routine Maintenance.

Hope this helped you. Please let me know. Thanks.

You're awesome! I think my model is the DDR600R, as I googled Danby humidifier images to find one that looks like mine.

Mine is in the basement so what would you recommend be the setting to dehumidify? My parents told me the basement is starting to smell and I'm assuming its the moisture in the air.

Thanks for the compliment. Since we answer questions from all around the world, I don't know which country you live in or the current season of the year. But, in a basement, I'd say 35 - 45%, because the air temperature in a basement doesn't change more than 10 degrees throughout the year. If you have a floor drain in the basement, you may want to consider using the drain hose connection on the unit, rather than having to empty the bucket a lot. Check that out in the Owners Manual. The hose should not be more than 5 ft long, if you use one. The hose is nothing special, just a regular garden hose will work (Only 5' long though) Please don't forget to rate my help to you. I'd really appreciate it. Thanks.

I just sent u an email about my danby showing a P2 sorry it was a P1.

P1- means the dehumidifier is in a defrost mode. This occurs when the temperature on the evaporator gets too cold and the unit shuts down to defrost (a defrost cycle).

P2- means the internal bucket is full of water.

Hope this helps!

My sunbeam humidifier doesn't work

Do you mean Dehumidifier? A machine that takes the humidity out of the air. If this is what you mean and you hear the fan motor working with no water dripping then the problem is that the coil which holds freon gas has leaked out the gas and can be recharged again with the leak fixed of course. Depending how old the unit is you may be better off buying a new model. Repairs can be costly. Hope this helps!

Dehumidifer runs, but does not collect water. Just started this recently. We use it in the basement. Not too old. It's a Whirlpool Accudry.

The humidifier appears to be working (with sound ) but is not collecting any water-cleaned the filter and still the same -the lit up area where it usually has the numbers is sitting at P2- I have lost the...

Alison -

A humidifier will not collect any water. A humidifier has a tank that you fill with water. The water is released / forced into dry air to make it moist, usually by a fan or ultrasonic method.

A dehumidifier has an empty tank that gets filled by the appliance extracting moisture from the air. The tank will have to be manually emptied periodically, otherwise the safety / water level switch will shut the unit off so that the tank doesn't over flow.

I suspect that you meant to say dehumidifier.. and if so, please provide the manufacturer's name and model. The "P2" indication will be difficult to interpret without knowing the manufacturer's info.

Humidifier says reserve tank is empty when it's not.

With this model it has not only been discontinued and difficult to find repair and replacement parts. I would suggest a new product. I wish that even in theses times I had more encourageing news because most of the time if its broke fix it..but this time, It's time to go shopping, also the company has sold twice, and now goes under two sub names. Have a great day. Thank you for your time.
