I think you just need to re-register the phone to the base. Press the button on the base station (between the 2 charger pins) then go to the handset setup menu, scroll to register handset.

If your base has a charge indicator on it and it indicates that the handset is charging when the handset is in the cradle, I would say you need a new battery. RadioShack sells a replacement battery for $22.00 at the following link
If the charge indicator doesn't come on it is unlikely that it is the battery. You may be able to get the phone repaired by the manufacturer but it may be better and more practical to get a new phone.

SOURCE: Dear, I have a Beocom
BeoCom 5 - compatibility with Bang & Olufsen bases:
BeoLine 2 - Full function. One line only, if the handset is in a system which also includes BeoCom 6000 MKII or BeoCom 2 MKII handsets.
BeoLine - One line only. Limited functions.
BeoLine PSTN - One line only. Limited functions.
BeoLine 2 - compatibility with Bang & Olufsen handsets:
BeoCom 5 - Full function. One line only, if the handset is in a system which also includes BeoCom 6000 MKII or BeoCom 2 MKII handsets.
BeoCom 6000 MKI - One line only. Limited functions.
BeoCom 6000 MKII - One line only.
BeoCom 2 MKI - One line only. Limited functions.
BeoCom 2 MKII - One line only.
For the base and the handset to be able to communicate, the handset must be registered to a base. Up to eight handsets can be registered to the same base. You cannot register a handset to
more than one base. If you want to register more handsets to a base, and one or more of these handsets are BeoCom 6000 or BeoCom 2, the oldest handset model should be registered first. The functional operations will then be limited to match the operations of the oldest handset registered.
Disconnect the base from the mains for at least two seconds and then reconnect it. The indicator light flashes, and the base is open for registration for five minutes.
Try unregistering the Beo5 handset, and then registering the Beo2 handset first, followed by the Beo5 handset.
