Question about Dryers

Open Question

Hello, I have resently repaird my GE MODEL: DCB330EB1WC SN: AD713688W I replaced the heating element, because the clothes where not drying. After installing the new heating element, the clothes where dry. Now a month later, the heating element still works but the clothes are not getting dry anymore. I kept the door open while it operated and confimed the heating element working. What else could this be? Thermostate. Any sugestions. I got a new muli metter to check currents, but i dont know what to look for and where. Thank you in advance. Jaime T. Mac Gregor

SOURCE: roper clothes dryer not drying clothes

Please take a look at the following link. In particular, the first major paragraph where it discusses proper ventilation:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r630242-dryer_runs_but_not_heat

I know the link is for a dryer that no longer heats, but if a dryer is left in a condition where it is starved for air, the heating circuits will actually over-heat and eventually fail. You need to ask yourself when was the last time you inspected or cleaned the dryer exhaust ventilation. If you can't remember, or if you've never cleaned anything before, it may be a good time to do so. Most dryer heat related problems are caused by poor ventilation and lack of cleaning. I recommend that you clean the dryer ducting twice a year. That's once in the spring, and once again in the fall. It is also important to note that the SHORTER and STRAIGHTER the exhaust vent line is, the BETTER. The more bends and kinks that you put in the dryer exhaust, the more resistance you create for the dyrer blower, and the more potential choke points you create where lint can accumulate and clog. Not to mention, this can also cause a fire hazard and/or a habitat for rodents.

Follow the recommended advice and try drying a load of clothes with the vent hose removed, first. If your clothes dry faster like they should, you may have an exhaust clog somewhere. If your clothes still aren't drying correctly, inspect the interior blower fan housing for obstructions. This is all explained in the link provided.

If you attempt these preliminary measures and still have problems, please let me know. I hope you find this information helpful.

SOURCE: My dryer heats up, but the clothes dont get dry w/o 3 full cycles

Hello. sorry for your trouble, let me help you. Let me begin by saying that the most common cause for what you describe is lint partially blocking the exhaust, either in the pipe, outside where the pipe exhausts, or when you remove the pipe from the back of the dryer, in that hole.

that being said, here is a detailed explanation of all of the possible causes

It normally takes about 45 minutes for a dryer to dry a full load. If your dryer is taking more than an hour, check these.

Vent
Heating element
Internal ductwork
Cycling thermostat
Vent Frequently there's an obstruction in the vent duct from the dryer to the outside of the house. For the dryer to heat properly, the duct must be clean and clear of lint or any other substance.

Heating element Your dryer's heating element may be partially burned out. If it is, your dryer still heats, but at such a low temperature that it takes three or four times as long to dry the clothes. If the element is partially burned out, replace it.

Internal ductwork Your dryer has some internal ductwork. If it gets clogged, your dryer can't dry properly. In most dryers, to get to the internal ductwork to clear the clog, you have to substantially disassemble the dryer. A quick way to check for internal clogs is to remove the lint filter and use a flashlight to inspect the inside of the duct. If it looks clogged and you can't clear it using your vacuum, contact a qualified appliance repair technician.

Cycling thermostat Although this isn't a common problem, one of the thermostats that controls the temperature in your dryer may break and cause the dryer to heat poorly. If so, you need to replace it. The thermostat is usually a small, round, black device mounted to an oblong steel plate. The plate is mounted to the internal ductwork with two screws.

SOURCE: my Fisher Paykel dryer DEGX2 WAS TAKING LONGER AND

Hi.

There is no reset circuit.

Parts that must be tested are high limit thermostat and timer board.
The timer board is replaced if it is visibly faulty, or if there is no problem elsewhere.
The high limit located near to the element is tested reading impedance with a multimeter set at Rx1. If there is no continuity , the thermostat must be replaced.

Before testing parts check the lint filter, and ensure that air ducts are clean.

Regards.

SOURCE: bosch axxis wtl 5410 dryer takes too long to dry.

You should have a cycling thermostat. this is most likely bad or your dryer vent may be clogged. Something is cutting the heat off before it gets hot enough. Both these cause this problem.

GE JBS55WOK4WW (SN: DM2068850) - There is power going to the range and oven but it is not heating

Hello & Welcome to FixYa

This indicates a open/shorted oven temperature sensor and to solve this problem the sensor needs replacement. If you wan to be sure before replacing the sensor then you can test it with a voltmeter for around 1100ohms....if it reads more then this then it needs replacement however, if the reading is around or less then 1100ohms then it is the control board that needs replacement. Please get back to me if you have any other questions.

My ge electric dryer will not get hot and is making a noise when it turns GE 3 CYCLE/4 FABRIC SETTING MODEL#DSXH43EA2WW SERIAL#RF706217W

hello febe... you probably have two separate issues here. First of all no heat generally means that your dryer heating element is shot and must be replaced. The squeaking comes from the idler pulley which puts tension on the belt which turns the drum.

To see these parts up close and learn how much the parts would be go to searspartsdirect.com and enter your model number. Joe

GE Profile jvm1090ww 01 SN ZR958136 s Convection temperature does not get above 360F when set at 450F. Could never brown meat or bake.

The convection heater is control according to the temperature of the part n 3014 Thermister
Part Number: AP2025611 made by GE

So this is acting like a temperature sensor and it seem that is giving wrong indication to the control panel and switch off the heater at wrong temperature.

So you should replace the thermister.

You can find this and all a other parts of your oven in this link.

Large eye thermostat is not working. Heat stays

Hello JBlum, Yes, most stove top elements, including those with the thermo sensors, are replaceable. Without the model number, I can't steer you towards the exact part number, but you can look it up yourself at www.searspartsdirect.com

Just enter in the full model number of your GE range and it will bring up all the line drawings and parts lists for it. You can either order the parts from Sears, or use any other supplier you wish.

Just remember to disconnect the range from the wall outlet before you undertake any repairs or attempt to replace any parts, so you'll be safe.

Hope you find this Very Helpful and best regards!
