Question about HP OfficeJet 7410 All-In-One InkJet Printer

HP 7410 All-in-One

My HP 7410 demands a new 96 cartridge, but when I insert the cartridge refuses to recognize it. Tech support at the HP repair station said there is a design flaw caused by the metal arm that punctures the board the printer rests on so the recognition software fails to work. There is a replacement board listed in HP Parts, but HP refuses to supply this replacement part to HP repair stations. Any ideas where I can fix this problem?

I have the same issue with the printer not recognizing cartridge after new install.I found the spring had come off and punched a hole in the circuit board. I now need to locate a new board to repair it or I have a $400.00 paperweight in my office.

HP made me "upgrade" to an L7780 refurbished printer for $349. Guess I got the wrong tech support.

Just chatted with online support. They agreed to replace the unit with no hassle.

HP will give you a new printer for free. I just did this through online tech support tonite. My unit is 18 months old. When you use the online tech support, save time and use this link that they gave me after 45 minutes of explaining my problem. http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&docname=c01189384

The HP 99 cartridge is used if you would like to print photos. The HP 99 replaces the HP 96 (black) cartridge in your printer. The HP 99 cartridge has black, photo magenta, and photo cyan inks in it. When you pair this with the cyan, magenta, and yellow in your HP 97 (color) cartridge you have the full set of photo colors represented.

I think that spring must have gotten loose that holds the cartridge in place, right hand side, put it back where it belongs, might want to compare with the other, black cartridge side.  Good Luck!

Printer does not recognize color cartridge for my HP OfficeJet 7410

Are you sure it's a genuine HP cartridge? Sometimes remanufactured cartridges aren't recognized by the printers. HP and others make them so that they have a chip inside that ensures only new genuine cartridges can be used. Try a new HP and see if that solves the problem. If you've already tried that one, then make sure the contacts in the printer are clean. If you still have a problem, then I'd say try a new printer!

Hp 2610xi not recognizing HP 97 color cartridge

If you look in the 96 (Black) cartridge loading area you might see that the retention spring has poked a hole in the circut board. I am now either trying to replace the ink cartridge holder or purchace a new printer. I have about $70.00 in new ink that I can't use now. The 2610xi worked great until the spring popped out of its holder.
