Question about Refrigerators

Open Question

I bought a Liebherr GN2153 freezer in March 2008 and until recently it has been working fine. Now - from time to time even when the freezer door has not been opened for 24 hours or more, all of a sudden the audible warning signal goes off and the red visual warning light comes on! When I press the audible warning signal button, then the alarm goes off. This is especially disturbing when it happens at nighttime. Please advise what to do.

SOURCE: fridge freezer not cooling from new - buttons not working

Sounds like an air flow problem from the freezer section to the refer section. Check that nothing is blocking the air vents, and that the dampers are operating properly (they control the flow of air). Of course if it's under warranty... call the service techs out.

SOURCE: garage door remote won't open the garage door

The little button with a padlock on the wall control is a "vacation" lockout feature that disables the remotes. There should be a small LED on the wall control that is always on steady. When the padlock button is pressed and released the LED should be constantly blinking (indicating the vacation lockout mode is active) and your remotes should be disabled. The wall control will still operate the door. Pushing the padlock button again should make the LED stop blinking and restore the door to normal operation.

SOURCE: Temp Alarm going off, when freezer seems to be cooling fine.

You need to check the temp in the freezer to make sure it's down to around 10 degrees. The alarm will go off much above that.

Replace seal on Liebherr french door

Are you talking about the center door gaskets? If so, Purchase new gaskets Left and Right (2 different part numbers) from Adco Service of Scottsdale AZ. The gaskets pull out from the two grooves and put liquid soap in the new gasket channel that holds the heater wire. Observe the channel where the wire came from.. Insert the heater wire slowly until it is at the end. Starting at the top, insert the gasket tongue that is towards the inside if the refrigerator first all the way down, then insert the side at the edge of the door. Be sure to firmly seat the gasket

The fridge and the bottom freezer are working fine. However there is a lot of ice developing at the bottom of the (bottom) freezer. Although we recently de-frosted the freezer and removed the ice (water),...

there is only 2 things if you dont have an ice maker inside your door is not sealing all the way around or the drain is cloged with ice and everytime the ref goes into defrost the water leak into the fzr unplug for 2 days that shoud fix it

Fan not working, temperature too cold

You may need a man. Mine was doing the same, The sensor repair kit costs £35 the labour £60, both plus vat, so that was £109.25 in 2009.

Repair men seem thin on the ground and therefore his traveling time may add up. I believe, repair men pay for a course, and then charge like a wounded bull as they are the only ones that can do anything necessary

WATER QUIT RUNNING IN DOOR

Okay. My appliance is around four years old. The first time the water quit working was about a year ago (ice cubes / dispenser was fine). I just let it go and didn't worry about it. One day months later, I found it functional again. That lasted about a month or two, then it recently quit again. Tonight, I located the water supply line coupling under the unit on the left side under the freezer door, about five inches from the hinge. I separated the coupling (push lock type) and pressed the water dispenser lever. After a few seconds, the water flowed out just fine. I re-attached the coupling, turned the freezer coldness selector to 0 (off) opened the freezer door and fetched my wife's blow dryer. I ran the dryer along the inside of the freezer door near the black door seal frrom the hinge up to the water/ice dispencer compartment. I also ran it all along the back of the dispenseer compartment to the handle side of the door as I am unsure of where the water line runs. After about ten minutes of this, I attempted to dispense water with no luck. I continued with the blow dryer until the plastic and even the door seal were very warm to the touch. I closed the door and attempted to dispense water once again, and this time it worked. I turned the coldness selector back on. This time I set the freezer to 3 and the fridge to 7. I ran several cups of water through the dispenser since it's been sitting in the line for a while before drinking any. As for the "reservoir," I don't where or if one exists, but heating up the inside of the door from hinge to dispenser worked perfectly. Hope this helps someone!

Cheers!

Fridge working fine, But freezer will not go below -8 degrees. there was some ince build up in the freezer which was cleaned, and since then has been working fine, but recently over the last few days...

It does sound like you have a low refrigerant gas problem - only way to be sure is get a service guy to check. If you notice particularly cold parts on the wall of the fridge or freezer, rather than the more even cooling that would be normal, then this is almost certainly the problem, and should be easily enough fixed by a qualified technician. The other possibilities are: The thermostat in the freezer could be faulty -hard to test without the right gear, but just check that the temperature adjustment knob for the freezer if it has a rotary one hasn't slipped on its shaft - this would give you a different temperature than the setting you have set. Check the freezer door seal/hinge and make sure it is sealing properly all around especially at the bottom - only a small gap can make a big difference Check the back of the unit is getting enough ventilation - it should get fairly hot normally but if the ventilation is restricted then the heat has nowhere to go and the freezer wont cool completely - if there is a lot of dust on the back then give it a gentle brush - the pipes are quite fragile so be gentle. If you havent defrosted the unit for a while, try that - leave it open and off at least overnight until there is no difference between the temperature inside and outside - sometimes small amounts of moisture in the refrigerant gas can freeze into crystals and block or partially block the gas system, once they defrost they should be dealt with further round the system by the filter/drier and hopefully will no longer be a problem Hope this helps :)
