Question about Husqvarna 22 hp 42" Yard Tractor YTH22V42

1 Answer

The blades stopped moving and I shut the mower off. Now when I try to restart it, it just makes clicking sounds. What happened? I just had it tuned up and it had been running fine until today.

  • Sounds like you may have a couple issues.
  • First you need to remove the spark plug.
  • You want to check the flywheel key first.
  1. This is easy enough to do. You really just drop the blade and on the end of the shaft is a key.
  2. Get one the same size at your local hardware store for a $2usd maybe.
  3. This is my first thought with the blade not spinning.
  • The clicking sounds like a classic case of a bad solenoid.
  1. Lift up the engine cowling.
  2. Go to the rear of the engine.
  3. The solenoid should be in view.
  4. Try tapping it with a rubber mallet.
  5. You can try to jump start the solenoid by turning the key on. Make sure someone is sitting in on the mower to be safe.
  6. Take a jumper cable and using only one side of the cable jump the pos to the neg on the solenoid. If the starter engages then replace that solenoid.

When running the mower, it shuts off immediately when trying to engage blades(pto)

Hi Digger:
I've two possibles come to mind for you to check.
1) Engine OFF - Make sure that all of the blades and pulleys can turn freely.
2) Engine OFF - Double check belt routing. Move engage lever ON/Off and look at what movement happens. It may be that the belt is on the wrong side af a mounting flange and binds when engaged.
Cheerfuls.

When I try to engage my blades my mower dies

Hi Glen:
Several possible problems.
- SAFETY FIRST! Make sure the motor is OFF and then check the blades and belts to make sure they are all free to move. Could be something is jammed or a blade is bent.
- Ask yourself what happened immediately before the problem became evident. That should provide the lead to the solution.
- There should be a safety interlock that stops the mower from engaging if no one is in the operator's seat. Check to see that it is working properly.
Let us know what you find.
Then we'll all go kill grass.

Why when riding along mowing and the blades just quit turning, belt is not off?

If you hit a bump too hard, I believe it's equipped with a shock sensor that shuts down the blades or if you slightly lift off the seat the blades will shut off. If this is the case simply stop and restart the blade switch. Hope this helps

Toro 22 inch Recycler Lawn Mower - would not restart, would make a clink sound when I turned the key. I tipped it partially on its side and tried turning the blade and it moved okay a little tight. Went...

If it runs, make sure the oil level is correct and continue to run the mower.
The blade should be a little tight, you are turning the engine.

When backing up the mower blades shut down and won't come back on when I try to go forward again.

on most riding lawn tractors you most first disengage the blades before going into reverse moving the tractor stop, put the tractor in a forward gear then re-engage the blades. if this dose not help please contact me. Thank you

6.5 push mower runs hot and stops.Unable to restart even after cools down.

Check and address the following:
  1. remove the rewind cover and clean the cooling fins
  2. change the oil with synthetic.
  3. clean the bottom of the deck and make sure the blade is sharp.
If it still gets hot and shuts down the bearings may be seizing or the blade brake is mal-adjusted.
Remove the spark plug and pull the lever to release the blade brake, spin the mower over by hand, if you feel a lot of stiffness or resistance to turn make sure the blade brake is not dragging. This is not likely to be the case being you would have noticed it was very hard to pull over when cold..good luck.

My Toro mower is 7 yrs old. 3 speeds, blade

I've noticed that when the blade get dull it work harder a cutting tall grass. I just put a new blade on mine and now it runs and sounds like a brand new mower. also if the inside of the deck is coated with old grass that makes a differance too

Craftsman DYT 4000, 24 hp 48" deck. While I was mowing, the blades stopped turning, started again, and then stopped. I shut down, all looked OK, tried to start and nothing. No click, nothing. Any ideas?

there is a fuse in engine compartment that might have blown causing the engine or blades not to start but what probably happened was something got caught in the blades check under the deck & see if there is & also try spinning blades by hand & see what happens
