Set all you menu settings nto mid, range, and then turn the screen voltage (G2) up swoly to the point where you start to see retrace lines and back it off where the lines are gone.

Sony TV set, KV20FS120 BA6 chassis: light blinks, set isn't coming on. Why?

Sony sets like this have a built-in self-diagnostic function.
The blinks of the Standby LED are the self-diagnostic codes.
There may be more than one error. The blinks indicate only the first error.

Unlug the set. Wait 30 seconds.
Prepare to count the number of times the Standby LED blinks.
Plug the set back in. Count the blinks.

These blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit section inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power LED, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. Count it carefully. If you wish to get some details, check the site linked here. It has details about blinking codes, and fault locating procedure, to many popular brand TVs and other devices. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/
Blinking codes details to many popular brand TVs are given. Surf the site with patience.
Type in the brand name of your device, in the search box [at the top right] of the display window, and press enter to get all related posts. It will make surf easy.

Sony kwp 65hd1 timer/stand by blinks 5 times over and over

5 times, Diagnosis: White balance failure (Not balanced) Possible causes: Video out (IC7101, 7201, 7301) is faulty (CR, CG, CB board), CRT drive (IC309) is faulty (A board), G2 is improperly adjusted. Symptoms of the problem: No raster is generated, CRT cathode current detection reference pulse output is small.

what it means is usually near or at the crt boards.

This model may have the on screen error buffer:

With set off use the sony remote:

Display, 5, vol down, enter, and power

if it has it a box will appear in middle of screen

Let me know if box appears if any item there has a number--they should all be at zero to the right of each.

SONY KV-XF21N90 WON'T TURN ON, Blinks 5 times

Hi,
5 times flashing light shows following possible problems in your tv..

• G2 is improperly adjusted.

• CRT problem.

• Video OUT IC1800 is faulty.(C5 board)

• IC301 is faulty. (A board)

Most probably cause is G2 voltage adjustment. If you know how to do it, please go ahead or look a tv tech around.

Hi TroyK,

Jehill is on vacation until June 22nd. So he should be able to reply after that date.

I did find a similiar thread on this issue that Jehill responded to

http://www.agoraquest.com/viewtopic.php?topic=31515&forum=34

For the KP46WT500, 5 blinks, pause, 5 blinks, etc. means "White BalanceFailure (Not Balanced)" and the probable cause locations listed are asfollows:

1. Video OUT (IC7101, IC7201, IC7301) is faulty (CR, CG, CB boards)
2. CRT drive (IC309) is faulty (A board)
3. Screen (G2) is improperly adjusted.

These are starting points for a qualified service technician.
