ok, NO PC stated, no model stated off the service tag on PC
Ok, no OS stated, no operating system stated, by you , sadly.
i will now look up you kbd spec. online. yours.
btw(bytheway): we are not HP, here, just free help..
. HP does have a real forum BTW2: ask, ?
first POST your PC model and with the OS(windows what?) they must work together as team see? the 841 is just a generic HP USB keyboard.
That Keyboard must work right on all USB jacks. did you try them all?,
did the OS, show actions/sounds installing that KBD. the sound will make a ding sound with it attached and then if on the internet you get the driver automatically using Plug and play, methods why post lacking the key facts? what PC , is it HP if yes, what model number? what OS, is it windows what, linux, or Freedos.
Tell me you are not running XP or VISTA OS, both are now dead.
Dead means also, no PnP magic, at microsoft, they turned it off.
in Europe they install many versions of the OS on PCs there, we here in gren'go land USA can not guess that ever.
Windows: (topic) only
\make sure its on the internet first. (how to do that lacking keyboard, ouch) then plug in the keyboard and for sure a USB mouse. next, using the mouse, click control panel then device manager, (more hard in XP say so if XP say so!) then see the keyboard section there click view tab and then set show hidden devices. now look here. and uninstall
all keyboards seen there. first. using only a mouse. then connect THE keyboard. the PC will now be forced to use magic
plug and play and the keyboard drivers are installed and now it works
best of all be internet connected or some drivers will fail.
Recap, try all USB ports. get the fresh keyboard driver now it works see?
There are other causes of failure here, OS infected, and more.
We do many tests to find it , if the above steps fail.
(we even run a live boot OS off a memory stick to see if it works)
if it does we know your windows is corrupted,
and more, ask.
