Sounds like your a/c compressor is worn out. When the internals get sloppy, they won't build pressure.

Fuel pressure reading at startup

should be at least 55 psi with key on engine off. fuel pressure should hold there with no rapid drop. if pressure is not 55 psi then pump is weak and truck will not start. if fuel pressure drops fast then most likely bad fuel regulator or cracked line on pump inside fuel tank.

I have a square D pressure switch on my home well water system. I also have a Iron filter on the system. The problem I have is that when Iron remover is in it's backwash cycle at night and someone uses the...

I find it interesting that you never had this problem. Did something change, specifically on the backwash of the iron filter? Is is possible that there is lower restriction to backwash causing the lower pump pressure? Could you throttle the backwash flow to allow pressure to be maintained and still get adequate backwashing?
It seems a lot of water must be flowing so that when you use some water the pressure drops to more than 10 psi below cut-in, that means typically 30 psi shutoff point.
Can you lower cut-in pressure, say 5 psi, lower?

Hi. Pressure does not build up in outlet pressure gauge. It reads "zero" while the tank pressure gauge reads 150psi. Obviously there is no pressure being delivered to the nail gun. I've tried turning the...

try taking the gauge off, do that arfter you drain it from the safty valve, and then run it and see if eny air comes out, if not thers a block, unless your regulator as jamed up inside, try taking the knob right off and push it down with a screw driver or something alike, air should come out ether into your airline or on the way out of taking the device out of the hole should drop psi in the airline through a little hole on the regulator. if none of this happens then i dunno, if it does be careful not to strip the knob putting it back on.

Lots of water on basement floor at pressure tank.

sounds like the bladder tank at the well is ruptured this will cause pressure surge, and pump short cycling, and needs to be replaced asap.

Try replacing the fuel filter, but it sounds like you have a weak fuel pump. Your cold start pressure should be 62-65 psi and drop about 5 psi when the engine is running. Anything less then 62 psi is going to cause you to have starting issues, you can also test your fuel pump by blocking off the return line to see if you get 75-78 PSI. this is just a test to see if your fuel pump is still good. If you have less then that with the return line blocked off, replace your fuel pump but check your ground wire first. The ground wire is separate from the wire harness and grounded to the frame and a bad ground will give you a weak pump.
Thank you for using Fixya and good luck

Fuel pressure intermittently drops causing sputter and die.

check for 12v constant at your fuel pump if you are not getting that replace your relay.
if you are getting 12 volts at your fuel pump the fuel pump is possible to run tuel it gets warm then shut down to a lower rpm I would then replace the fuel pump

Fuel Pressue 1987 Nissan maxima

1st I hope you are taking the fuel pressure from the correct side of the system. The correct side will be the side coming from the fuel filter and before the fuel pressure regulator. At a normal idle, the pressure should be roughly 30-33 psi. When you crack the throttle rapidly, a sudden vacuum drop will cause the diaphragm in the fuel pressure regulator to shift causing the fuel pressure to jump sharply. Usually to 45 or 50 psi. You can check the maximum fuel pressure by dead heading the pump. This can be done by simply pinching off the return hose to the fuel tank. At an idle, the maximum fuel pressure the pump will put out will be displayed. You will also notice a slight jump in rpm's because it cause the fuel mixture to fatten up before the ECM can respond to changing the pulse width based off of the o2 sensor.
I hope my answer was satisfactory.

Fuel Reg........

Fuel pressure should not drop more than 5 PSI in 24 hours, the symptom you have is more than one issue, first verify the system holds fuel pressure over night, the pressure regulator will not cause this issue, the check valve built into the fuel pump will. On to the dieing concern, clean the idle speed control air bypass valve and the throttle valve with throttle body cleaner spray with the engine running at high idle, spray in at least 1/2 can of the cleaner, next disconnect the battery for 5 minutes, then drive for 2 days under varying conditions to "relearn the idle strategy".
