If replacing the defrost thermostat fixed the icing problem that doesn't indicate your settings are wrong. But the desired temp in the freezer is from 0 to 10 degrees and in the fridge around 35 degrees. The actual number on your dial depends on the personal use. Use a thermometer to check it and allow 24 hours after changing it to check it.

The GE Profile PSW26PSSBSS is a little tricky to examine sometimes. It sounds to me that you either have a defrost problem, fan problem or motherboard is failing causing all of the symptoms. To begin check inside the freezer and look over the rear wall to see if ice is building up. If yes then that will be an easy fix by replacing the defrost heater=> WR51X10055 Defrost Heater and Bracket Assembly
and defrost thermostat=> WR50X10054 Defrost Thermostat If no frost build up I would like you to pull away from wall, unplug and remove the lower cover and feel the top of compressor to see if the compressor is warm, cool or too hot to hold hand there. If too hot then I want you to make sure both fans are working inside and out and that they do not stop after a few minutes. If the fans are OK then it is possible the motherboard has a defective relay and will need to replace=> WR49X10152 Control Board You may need to examine both sides of the board for heat marks or signs that solder has been melting away from a relay. If it comes to this I will guide you through the repair and replacement. Click Here for=> GE Artica Technical Information And Click Here for=> GE Artica Service Manual Click here for the=> PSW26PSSBSS Back Side and motherboard is the item listed in photo as 801. And the Freezer Components Click Here=> PSW26PSSBSS Freezer Components and in that photo part 240 is the Defrost Thermostat and 230 is Defrost Heater. I will be here to show you what to do if you care for my assistance, Thanks Sea Breeze

GE GSS25LGMA refrigirator/freezer refrigirator side is freezing

There is an electrically activated air dampener in the upper left back side of the refrigerator section which most likely has broken (in the open position), allowing cold air from the freezer to continue to enter the fresh foods section. Replace the dampener assembly.

Refrigirator side not cooling but freezer side is working, fan is working

if you open the freezer back wall you see that there is ice all over that prevent colld air go to the fridg.
use hair dryer to melt all the ice (turn unit off)
then you might need to replace the heat unit or the thermostat in the freezer to prevent it to build ice again.

Settings for my side by side frigidare refrigirator?

Hello. generally 2 to 8 °C (36 to 46 °F) is ideal for the refrigerator compartment and −18 °C (−0.4 °F) for the freezer. Begin by having each dial in the middle and adjust it accordingly using a thermometer to get your side by side fine tuned. Happy holidays. Regards, Joe

GE REFRIGIRATOR HUMMING SOUND

it could be the evaporator fan touching the ice that builds up in the evaporator.
if it is the fan, then you may have a problem with your defrost cycle. the defrost heater isnot heating up in order to defrost the ice . if it buids up, it would be so thick that the ice could touch the fan that would create the humming sound.

tnx 4 using fixya,
