I had a GE repairman come out to service my machine and when he told me that My machine would cost me 1100.00 to fix because it was not under warranty .I got a list of the two parts that he was going to replace and fixed my machine myself for 251.00. I installed the parts just like they came off. The roaring sound was only happening when I put jeans in the machine. Lighter loads worked just fine. The funny thing is that after posting my question on this site the machine quit the roaring sound. By the way I am a woman and have always fixed my own appliances, too cheap to pay the

outragious labor charges. These two parts were stripped out to begin with. Thank you for your response.

Hi

It seems that the stator, rotor assembly and coupling should also be checked, what made you replace the pulsator assembly and mech. bearing assembly is still a question for me however, I believe you either did not replace it correctly or some other parts are causing this issue. You can check the parts by clicking on this link. Hope this helps...please post back for further assistance.

If it's a roaring noise, the tub bearing is probably wearing out. Spin the tub a little with your hand, if you hear a little of the roar, that's it.

Makes a loud roaring sound when it switches to the spin cycle. Can it be fixed? If so, how?

yes it can be fixed but its not worth it. parts alone are over 200.00 dollars. What that noise is is the bearing in the transmission and it will need to be replaced.

Washing machine making loud roaring sound during spin cycle

Very likely the main bearing and drum shaft-inner tub will need replace. Not worth repairing, easily can cost more than the washer. Buy a new whirlpool front load duet, super capacity or the top load whirlpool with and agitator. Good Luck, Appliance Specialists

Loud sounds coming from the washer on spin cycle

That is a characteristic of bearings gone bad. You should look into replacing the bearings.

Front loader making loud noise with spin cycle

It may be something that was in the wash and fell thru the holes in the inner drum. Check all the plastic agitators and make sure they are all secure and an attach bolt has not backed out of one and rubbing the outer tub. It will wear a hole in it fast if it is.
Usually when the bearings go bad, it gets very loud on the spin cycle, like a loud roar and sometimes clothes will have rust or grease stains on them.
I just replaced my tub bearings on my Frigidare and spent about $60. They are all pretty much the same. On mine they only list the complete rear outer tub assembly with bearings, but you can knock the old bearings and seal out and match them up at a bearing supply house or you can buy online. Online seems much cheaper. If you buy bearings, make sure you get ones with a -2rs on the end of the part number. ex. 6308-2rs. They are sealed and hold up much better in water environment.
I would give it a try, the junk man doesn't care if it comes in pieces or one big piece.

There are a couple online articles that can probably help you. Do a google search for 'washer rear tub bearings"

Loud spin cycle/water leaking

If your washer is making a "freight train" like noise in the spin mode, ( loud roaring ), this is often the spin bearing built into the bottom area of the transmission that is worn out. This bearing is part of the transmission and means a new transmission is required. The noise is usually a result of water leaking from the center seal and bearing area onto the transmission. This water washes out the bearing and it gets very noisy in the spin cycle!! Do check the easy stuff before condemning, nail/pin caught in one of the inner basket holes, nothing is caught in the drain pump, the inner wash basket is not loose and wobbling around.

GE Washer WPSR3100W0WW roars like a freight train in spin cycle

You would need a transmission (WH38x10002) which comes with a new tub seal, and runs between $150 and $200. Check the back of the owners manual to see if your washer has a five year warranty on the transmission. (newest ones may be only 1 year) They do make a couple special tools which make the repair easier, and an experienced tech can do one in about a half hour, but your first one will take much longer. Motor is most likely just fine.

Spin cycle

Did it make this noise just when it stopped spinning.  Just for a couple seconds?  If so,  it's only brake noise and not a concern.  If it does this all during spin you probably have a bad tub bearing.  Is it a roaring noise?  This is what the bearing will sound like.
