It should spring up by itself,it may be broke hence the name BUFFALO. there should be one to keep it down. it is next to the hinge.need to hold it down OR UP ? just use a black bundgie cord. jay

Product just arrived, saw is stuck in cutting position

There is usually a safety or transit lock or pin which is engaged to lock the saw down for safety and for a more convenient way or transporting it.

The ones on my saws are a simple ball-headed pin sited close to the hinge of the saw which can be easily withdrawn once enough downward pressure has been applied to the saw to overcome the return spring pressure.

How do you unlock it so you can lift the blade up. Not in the manual

There is a small pin or lever on the right side, a few inches in front of where the hinge is. You have to pull the pin out about a half inch. But the spring that is trying to raise the saw will be working against you. So you have to push down slightly on the front of the saw with your left hand while you pull out the pin with your right hand.

Cant pull out locking pin on miter saw

There is a heavy spring which is trying to hold up the saw that is working against you. Press down on the handle of the saw so that it moves down a little, now you should be able to pull out the pin.
Good luck.

DW938 reciprocating saw only works if turned on right side and not at all if turned on left side. Motor appears to be arcing if and when it works. Moderately used and never dropped or wet.

There are a set of contacts or brushes that are spring loaded and press against the motor shaft one from each side, when you lay it on the side that works the brush with the broken spring is on the top and gravity lets it fall in place so it will work, but the arch is because the spring is not there to hold the correct pressure on it. Check the instruction or your local tool shop for the brushes and instructions on how to replace. Easy fix and no need to replace the tool.

How do u unlock a 10'' benchtop compound miter saw

slightly push down on the handle, then look directly over the top at where swivel spring is either on the left or right side , there is going to be a pull pin, it will only pull out far enough for the handle to go up and down, its not suppose to come all the way out

Looking for release mechanism on a 10in craftsman miter saw ( borrowed the saw and cant figure out how to make the blade go up

There is a little pin, usually black and usually on the right side near the hinge that you pull out about 1/4 inch. Push down slightly on the handle to take the spring pressure off of the pin so it will be easier to pull the pin out.

How to release the cutting arm of ryobi cut off saw

There is a little pin that holds it down so you can carry it by the handle. The pin is near the hinge. It's probably black and probably on the right hand side. You should press down on the saw to relieve the spring pressure which is trying to raise the saw. This will make it easier to move the pin. You don't remove the pin, you just pull it out about a quarter inch. Good luck, Al K

How do I change the blade on a dewalt compound (12 in) miter saw?

With the saw unplugged - The blade needs to be locked in place so it will not turn when you put a wrench on the nut located on the left side of the blade that holds the blade on. This is done with a locking pin on the right side of the blade. Push the pin in and rotate the blade by hand until the pin locks into the blade and prevents it from moving. With the pin pushed in put a wrench on the large nut on the left side of the blade and turn it. This may be reversed threaded, so you may have to turn the nut clockwise in order to loosen it. When tightening the nut after replacing the blade, you will have to once again lock the blade with the same pin.
Perhaps this video will help you locate the locking pin.
