Question about Honda Garden

1 Answer

I have an old Honda Harmony HRM-215 lawnmower. The first time I used it this year it worked fine, now I have to leave the choke on fully just to get it to run. Even after an hour of running, choke must be on just to get it to run slowly. The only difference may have been gas, but it has been replaced and still a problem. If I could download a shop manual I would remove the fuel tank to see if there is a clog. I have drained problem gas but still a problem. thanks for any help

Honda lawnmower hru195 1 year old starts easliy with choke on but will not run with choke off

Hi and welcome to FixYa, I am Kelly.

You have debis in the fuel float bowl. Remove the float bowl, clean the bowl and the bowl NUT, Shoot some carb cleaner up into the jet where the bowl nut threads into (center) and clean the orifice. Put it back together wait 30 seconds after turning on fuel or adding fuel and start the engine. If this does not work respond here and I will help you.
Make sure to include your ENGINE model number in your response.
Thanks for choosing FixYa,

BEFORE you go thru all of the advice and look at most other Honda web info.....go and buy a brand new spark plug and start with that! It appears Honda used a NGK spark plug in the past that fails after some the syptoms of problems with the carb, runs for 10-30 seconds, sticky valve, etc. Do not try to clean and use the old spark plug!! Check this was the answer I was looking for after hours of work, reading, and talking to Honda dealers ----

My troybuilt yard pony riding lawnmower will start with the choke fully open and then dies immediatly when you take the choke off. It will only start and run with the choke fully open, but dies after 20-30...

Do you mean that you can start it normally using the choke (that would be choke CLOSED), but then it dies immediately when you move it to run (that would be choke OPEN)? And if you leave the choke in the starting position that it dies after 20-30 seconds?----- If I have that all right, then you definitely have a restriction in the gas supply. Drain all of the gas from the mower and don't use any old gas. If you have any more old gas (from last season) don't use it. If this mower has a gas filter, replace it. Put just a little fresh gas in the tank plus a little of the cleaner. Start it up, do that a few times if needed. Use a fuel additive such as Sea Foam to keep the gas from gumming up so fast.

My 305 unit will not turn on. It has been sitting on the charger for 3 days..Is there a reset option? It is only 2 months old, but is a refurbished unit. It was working fine the last time it was used.

try pressing the mode and power buttons together although you may lose your data, if this does not work leave it off the charger for a few hours and then try to start it,, this happened to my olde 305 and after leaving it overnight it started again....they are sometimes tricky

Oil coming out of the carburetor of my Honda Harmony 215 mower

unless the ground was a steep slope while mowing or the mower was tipped over 35 degrees or more in any direction except with the handle bars down (spark plug up is ok), it will most likley be a blown head gasket between the pushrod gallery and cylinder. remove the head and get it re-faced then assembly with new gasket. valve adjustments are 4 thou inlet and 6 thou exhaust

Mower not running at set speed, choking

you should have an air/fuel mixture screw on the carb somewhere. Start the engine and turn it one way then the other a small amount at a time. One way it will get worse and one way it will get better. Keep turning till it smooths out
