Question about HP Colour Laser Jet CM6030F Multi Function Printer

1 Answer

I have an Hp CM6030f MFP that said to change the yellow toner. When I changed the yellow toner which was more than half full it is now stuck in calibration mode.

Thanks for your answer. I should have added more to my original post. I already tried what you are saying. The machine went into calibration mode as soon as I replaced the yellow toner. It is recognizing the toner as full. The yellow drum motor and the step motor keeps spinning constantly. The step motor is getting red hot. I tried replacing the DC controller and the yellow drum motor neither of which solved my problem. I am waiting for a new step motor to come in. If anyone has any suggestions it would be greatly appreciated. This machine is becoming a nightmare.

  1. Power cycle the printer and Verify the "Replace Cartridge?? message is still present.
  2. Remove ALL the cartridges (Toner and Drum cartridges).
  3. Power cycle the printer
  4. Install one by one of the cartridges when the printer requests them
  5. Verify that the new cartridge is recognized by printing the Supplies Status Page.

I apologize, I was not privy to that information prior to providing my answer.

Your problem is a cycling problem. Download the service manual, if you have not already done so and you should be able to determine the exact cause of the problem. If the unit advances past the yellow cartridge during the cycle phase, the step motor is not your problem.

The machine only makes it to the yellow drum motor and the step motor spinning so much it gets red hot. It wont go any further than that.

Have you looked at the gears on the cartridge and the step motor for damage or flattening?

On the rear of the printer should be a panel with a label on it, to help your looking for a label in an area with no air vents - slightly to the right of that label should be a small round hole.
Use a non metallic object to press the button.
If the printer responds by motors whirring etc that's a good sign.
The first press will more than likely make the printer calibrate. Wait until the engine stops then press again.
If this does not work, remove the formatter and try again.

The engine test bypasses the formatter so if it works with the formatter removed then I would look towards replacing the formatter.
IF it works with the formatter installed this has proven the printer engine works and again the formatter is the area of attention.

I had the same kind of problem with the same printer.
The problem started with yellow toner powder 'leaking' inside the printer and contaminating the printed documents.

After inspection, the yellow cartridge showed what seamed to be like caked/cluttered powder between the magnetic roller and the doctor blade.
I dismantled the cartridge to realise the 'caked/cluttered powder' was in fact a sponge material. The internal 'spongy' toner feeder roller was damaged and little pieces of the material was coming out of the cartridge.

After further inspection inside the printer (all cartridges and drum removed), I found two little pieces of the same material stuck between the kevlar roll and the metallic housing underneath it. (going up, from bottom to top, you have the pile of paper in the feeder -> horizontal metallic plate -> kevlar roll -> toner carousel.)
I used a strip of heavy paper (200g) to gently remove the two sponges, set two clean jobs and the problem was solved.
The kevlar roll is also accessible from the printer's back door, some material may also be stuck in this location.

Hello,
the drum is in cartridge with toner. So if you buy new cartridge ( genuine or repaired ) you can use your MFP.
You must have on mind that you have 4 drum/toner units inside - Bk, C, M, Y. To be sure which one is needed to be changed refer to your problem, which I presume are lines and spots on printed paper. i.e. if the lines are yellow, you need to replace yellow cartridge.
The crg. No. are:
CB540A-Bk
CB541A-C
CB542A-Y
CB543A-M

Remanufactured one are from 50USD to 70 USD depending on quality.

The each cartridge goes about 2000-2500 prints/copies.

Hope that helps!
