I need to change out my lcd screen on my Gateway LT2030u and was looking for what's still holding it together. There are no exposed screws around the screen itself, so I'm taking the body apart and there are two points holding it together that I can't figure out how to separate it.

honestly you cannot just add the dimm and you may not be able to replace it with the one you got either.I WOULD TAKE IT TO A PC REPAIR take your new dimm with you and they will install it for you or at least tell you if it can be done.

SOURCE: m gateway screen wont turn on, how do i fix this

Hook a spare monitor to the video output usually on the back, if picture is okay! the inverter board, backlight behind the LCD screen, or possibly a loose video cable may be the issue, However! if symptoms are same on both, the video graphics card will be the problem usually built into the motherboard.

How to replace a cracked screen

Replacing a damaged laptop LCD screen can bring your laptop back to life.

You'll be able to access files you thought were lost and use the laptop just as you did before. And it's not as difficult as you might think.

Turn off the power, unplug the battery and all cables.

Eject the installed battery if you have one.

This will protect you against electric shock.

Find the small, round rubber screw covers and pry them off.

This will expose the small screws holding the LCD screen frame in place.

Depending on your laptop, these covers might be made of some other type of material.

Remove the frame by gently prying.

Locate the LCD screen's cable and power supply cords. Unplug them and remove any tape holding the screen in place.

Check the identify of the manufacturer on the back or side of the screen.

It may be different than your computer's manufacturer.

Since these screens look so similar, make sure you order an LCD screen that matches your manufacturer's model number, or else the new screen will not fit.

Plug in the new LCD screen, replace any tape holding the screen in place and replace the frame.

Don't pinch any wires as you press the frame back into place.

Screw the frame down and switch on the power to see if it works.

If it does, go ahead and replace the screw covers.

If it doesn't, remove the battery, the screws and the frame.

Check your connections.

If it still doesn't work, call your parts supplier and ask for assistance in getting another replacement LCD screen.

Hope this helps

How dose the case come apart

usually with LCD monitors there aren't many screws holding them together, instead they are held together with plastic tabs. You need to remove any screws holding it together (if any) and you need to pull the case open with a butter knife or a special pry tool (flat head screwdriver wouldn't be a good choice because it leaves more marks). you need to insert the knife or whatever your using and pretty much pull it apart gently, this isn't easy to do and you can risk ruining the whole screen if your too aggressive when opening it. unless your trying to fix the monitor, you shouldn't open it because it usually will look like **** afterwards.

When I turn on my netbook, the screen stays black. Nothing appears.

1. Check your power cord & adapter.
2. If its working then check the battery, reseat the battery & check.
3. If available then check with another battery
4. If no, then remove the battery & switch on the PC in AC mode.
5. Check if battery charging indication or AC power on indication is glowing. if not then need to change ur motherboard.
6. If indication is OK, but could not power ON then check ur RAM for any loose connection or dust. clean & reinstall.
7. If still no display, connect an external monitor, check if display is comming.
8. If Display is coming then your LCD need to replace.

Gatewy laptop screen

Replacing a screen is fairly easy, usually you will see some rubber bumpers at each corner of the screen, removed those and that will expose the screws, then you will need to gently pry apard the front bezzel from the back shell. after that you will need to remove any screws holding the LCD in place. Locate the model of the screen and find on on ebay or through your laptop manufacter. I just picked up a 15.4" lcd for a toshiba on ebay for 80$ with a 6 months warrenty.
