Question about Saniflo SaniPlus-Round SaniPlus Macerator Toilet with Round Bowl

2 Answers

My toilet is having a small leak from the cystern which meant the saniflo switched on, on its own, every 24 hours or so. I switched it off at the mains but had not realised about the leak so the toilet bowl filled up. I switched the saniflo back on and it is just making a loud noise now and not pumping. presumibly the unit filled up with water too when I turned it off. How can I get it working again.

Thanks. However the problem now is not the leaky cystern but the saniflo. Because I switched it off and I think it must have filled with water and not being able to pump out, it is no longer working. When switched on the saniflo just makes a loud noise like a motor but the pump does not pump when I flush or use the sink. Could the saniflo be full of water and if so how would I get it out. Thanks

I have kept the machine switched off for a day and turned it back on and it still made the noise. Turned off again and done this for a few day. It is now all ok. It probably just needed time to drain the extra water out of the pump. No need for a new pump. If anyone else has this problems just tell them to turn it off, be patient, wait, turn on and off again until works ok.

Sorry but I don't think any of your experts understood the problem. Anyway, I have left the pump turned off for a day, turned it back on, and done this a few times and now everything is working fine. I think the pump got full of water and couldn't cope. All well now.

About leak, it may be that the washers are worn out, or you might have the nut too tight.

If the pump isn't working, the length or height of the installation is over the specification, or there are too many bends/elbows or the pump chamber is blocked. First try to check this and the right position and installation of the components (click over image)...

if the pump comes on but doesnt pump water you have 1 of 2 problams

1 some thing is holding the impeller thus wont pump

2 the motor is seezed and time to get a new one.

You need the proper wax ring to seal the toilet to the flange. Remove the toilet and check the wax ring. If it isn't compressed, get a spacer and a thicker ring.

The saniflo keeps cutting in even when not flushed

Water pressure makes the unit kick on and off. It will turn on by itself if water is somehow draining back into the pump. It could be water leaking from the toilet tank into the bowl and from the bowl to the pump or the flapper on the check valve inside the discharge elbow may be stuck open or could be defective and allowing waste water to drain back into the pump, once it builds up enough water pressure inside the pump, the unit will kick on and off by itself.

What is the best product/chemical to keep Saniflow free of calcium build up ?

Hi,

I would suggest not using standard drain cleaner as it could cause damage to the seals inside the unit. Saniflo suggest the following

Hope this helps

My saniflo keeps coming on about every hour on its own and we cannot stop it making an awful noise

Suspect that you may have a leak at the flapper of the toilet bleeding water into the holding tank causing the pump to run unnecessarily.

Replace the flapper and clean the mating surface.

Saniflo works in short burst when not flushed eg in night

Sound to me that the toilet is over filling and in doing so water will over flow down the pan. This is definately what I would check first!
