F9 means door latch error. Either the door lock circuit is defective or the Electronic Range Control is faulty. Sometimes the problem is only temporary and can be fixed. Try the tricks below. If they do not work either door latch or control module must be replaced.

1) Disconnect power by turning off the circuit breaker and wait five minutes. If the oven is hot wait one or two hours to allow cooling down.
2) disconnect power and connect back holding door Clear/Stop at the same time.
3) Press the *clean* and enter one minute time cycle.
4) Start a complete self cleaning cycle and press clear stop immediately after starting.
5) Start a complete self cleaning cycle and allow completion.

Some of the operations may not be possible because of the error mode.

If the tricks do not work, then the door must be forced to open. This is done either accessing electronic control and jumping the door latch, or if it still doesn't open using a cloth hanger. There is risk to damage more the oven, and such operations are better done by a technician

I have seen where one of the door switches becomes intermittent causing the symptoms you are describing, tough to nail down considering there are more than one door switches.

Jenn air microwave loose door

Most if not all of these units have a safety switch--can't get at it from the outside---if unit is taken apart it often is snapped into a plastic holder and prevents the unit from working if door is open.

If it is loose or not engaged completely the unit will do what you are describing.

My Jenn-air micro/convection oven runs, but there's no heat. I don't know how to use it as its all new to me.

Hi

This means a loose/broken wire on the oven temp sensor or the oven temp. sensor itself is bad and should be replaced. To solve this issue test the oven temp. sensor, it should read between 1080-1120 ohms, if the rating is more then that and the door appears to be closing fine then it is the control board that is bad and should be replaced. Hope this helps...please post back for further assistance.

Error code F9 and lock on computer On Maytag gas range.model mgr587bdb.

The F9 error code refers to the door latch. The problem seems to be with the latch motor or a switch associated with the motor. If I am reading your question correctly you say that it would not unlatch and then upon resetting it unlatched but the oven won't work and you still get the error code. If so try resetting again but have someone come out to check it out or you will continue to have this problem.

The F9 indicates one of two possible problems. One you have already done and the other is the door lock mechanism. If the lock mechanism got stuck in between the lock and unlock neither switches on the lock mechanism are closed. This could be caused by a post on the lock mechanism that has failed.

I just looked up the part for the door lock and it is no longer available, with no other source for the part.

So I guess I would suggest having a technician come out and see if he can see if the lock mechanism can be fixed so the oven will work but you will no longer have the clean cycle working.
They may or may not want to do this for you, but you could use a local service company and they may be able to make it so you can use your oven.

I hope this helps (remember to rate and comment this answer).

My Jenn-aire microwave says locked and has a picture of a padlock. I was microwaving bacon and had just put it some to cook ( my second batch per se) and everything was locked up. I tried pushing options...

Most likely you set a child lock (front panel lock) by holding a button too long (3 seconds). Without a model number, I can't be absolutely sure of the keypad lock for your Jenn-Aire microwave. Usually, the key will have a small padlock icon on it. Press and hold this key. On my microwave you press and hold Start to toggle the lock off.

On a Jenn-Aire JMW2430 and similar models, the Button Lock is activated by a several step process (More and Button Lock). However, pressing and holding the Start button will deactivate it.

I hope this helps.

Gas electric with convection oven ( 48600)

Old message but maybe you are still living with the problem.
There are safety switches that must close with the oven door before  the cleaning cycle will initiate and one or more of these may have failed. Sometimes these are actuated by metal tabs on the oven door that fit into slots on the mating surface. If yours is so constructed, use a popsicle stick or similar non-conductive probe and poke it into each slot listening carefully for a quiet 'click' or a change in resistance to your insertion. If one of these sounds or feels different than the other, one of them is probably bad although finding an action doesn't guarantee that the switch is electrically functioning. Unfortunately, if your oven is constructed as described, the switches are only accessible by removing the side panels from the range.
The door lock feature is a must since the self-clean temperature must reach 900+ degrees to enable the catalytic action to occur.
