Question about A4tech KBS-21 (KBS21) Keyboard

Open Question

I just bought a new keyboard (A4tech KBS-21 USB Keyboard) and I have problems with installing it on XP. I have dual boot: XP/ Win7. The keyboard works on windows7, it works in BIOS, it even works on my room-mate`s pc, but when I try to use it on XP, I can only use it meanwhile it says that it is "installing", but when it says "your device is ready to use", I can`t use it anymore. I don`t have any other keyboard plugged, neither USB neither PS/2. //when I say that it doesn`t work I mean that only the "multimedia buttons" work, but in rest I can`t even close/open the CapsLock LED.

SOURCE: my wireless keyboard stopped working it is a A4tech RFKB-21

The first thing you should try is unplugging the wireless adapter and plugging it back in. If that doesn't work, try uninstalling the wireless driver (from the device manager. You can find the device manager in the control panel), unplugging the keyboard first of course. After the driver has been installed, plug the keyboard back in and allow the windows 'found new hardware' to install the driver again. The 'found new hardware' dialog is automatic, so all you have to do is plug the keyboard in.

If windows cant find the driver, or has a problem for any reason, you can find your driver at:

http://www.findmysoft.com/drivers/A4tech-RFKB-5-Wireless-Keyboard-driver.html

and install it manually (it installs like any other software).

If your keyboard is still not working, check for any manual locks that might prevent the keyboard from being used normally. Look for an unrecognized key, a switch, or an LED light that might have a picture of a lock. Unfortunately, I can't pull up any pictures of your keyboard, so I don't know if it has one or not.

You might also want to try another usb device (a flash drive or another usb keyboard, if you have one) to make sure that the usb ports aren't the culprits.

I hope this helps, and good luck!

Hello My keyboard is model KBS-26. The F-keys are not working...Any idea how this can be solved. I'm on Windows XP.

I strongly suspect this keyboard is the same as the Smart Office EZ8000 and the Micro Innovations KB730/kb740x and others -- but with slightly different packaging. I have even seen a Microsoft branded version of this thing.

By F-keys you might mean the programable keys along the top rather than the function keys. These were meant to work with a driver that came with the keyboard. Alas, that driver has not been updated since Windows 2000. You can find that driver out there if you search on the other names I mention above but you will be better off forgetting about the driver and those keys -- they will not all work as you might expect.

These drivers are not easy to find. Have done some searching, but it's very hard.
You could try this one (seems to be some general driver), or another driver e.g. for KBS-8 or KBS-26.

Good luck
