Question about Mitsubishi WD-65731 65" HDTV

1 Answer

I have the WD-65731 DLP HDTV. The tv will not turn on. Initially, it will power up, and you can here the fan running. The green "timer" light will blink for several seconds. Finally the fan will turn off and the blinking timer light will go out. I have tried resetting the TV, as well as unplugging the power cord and all input cords. After waiting 60 seconds, I reconnected all cables and tried again to turn it on, but the result was the same. No other indicator lights are on during ths process.

Have not replaced the lamp, but the lamp indicator is not lit, so it should be ok. I am suspecting the "Green Light of Death" problem, ie capacitors on the DM have gone bad, but I would like to find more info on it before I try to fix it!

Have you replaced the lamp?? You usually have to replace the lamps around every two to three years. The manufacturer has designed it so you the customer could change it yourself without a technicion. Hope this helps.

The lamp indicator is not lit, so I think the lamp is ok. The indicator will e red if the lamp is bad. I suspect the "Green Light Of Death" issue where the capacitors are bad on the DM, but I would like more info on that before I take it apart! Thanks for your post!

If its a DLP with a high pitched or even fan like sound it is the color wheel--Mitsubishi does not sell them as a part---you would have to replace the entire light engine (expensive and may not be available any more on a older set) .

TV taking a long time to initially turn on after it has been setting. The timer light will flash green for about a minute than the set will turn on.

Change the TV Energy Mode to "Fast Power On" in the Set Up menu if the TV takes an excessively long time to power on. The TV Energy Mode could be set to Low Power.

the buzzing noise you are hearing is from the lamp ballast as it strikes the lamp. that is quite normal but it should only be momentary. it should not be constant.
