Lid switch seems to be working properly

My washing machine will fill up but then will not do anything. I checked the lid switch and it seems to be functioning properly as I am hearing the "clicking" sound yet the machine will still not start to agitate . The model of the washing machine is TAWS700RQ3

same problem - no agitation or spin - lid switch clicks - how do you jump start

  • Anonymous Jan 19, 2009

I have the same problem, water fills and no agitation or spin, just clicks.

Any suggestion of where to start looking or is the lid switch the main focus point?

I have a washer kemore 600 series, it pumps water in but will not do anything else. Is there a reset button on the motor or pump?

Hello there and welcome to fixya
If your washer doesn't seem to work at all, check these:
No power Check to see whether power is getting to the washing machine. Is it plugged in? Has a fuse blown or is a circuit breaker tripped? try to unplug for 15 min then reset the home breakeer than plug in the machine again and try Lid switch If the lid switch is defective, your washer can't spin and may not function at all. The switch is inside the washing machine main housing near the door frame. Often you have to raise or open the top or front of the washer to get to the switch. If it's defective, you need to replace it. To determine if the lid switch has failed, watch the part testing video . at repair clinic.com Some machines have a special lid-switch fuse near the lid switch, inside the control panel. If this fuse blows, the unit won't fill with water until you replace the fuse. or it will fill but will stop after that

My washer fills up then doesn't do anything.

Check the lid switch. Many washers won't work if the lid isn't closed. Without the lid switch, the machine can't tell.

Washer filled up and wont drain or do anything!!!

Does it click when closing the lid ? Sometimes , the lid switch arm , will work inserting something into it , but not with the lid closed . Try checking it using the lid itself . Occasionally , the arm wears to where it has to be pushed farther down to work so the actuator on the lid cannot push it far enough down . Have to replace the lid switch for it to work properly or bypass the lid switch from under the console .
