Question about Dryers

1 Answer

Kenmore 80 series electric dryer Model - 110-60882990 The dryer won't turn on. Once the start button is pushed it makes a single clicking noise. If I open/shut the door and push the start button again it will make a single click. The drum will spin manually but that is it. Nothing seems to turn on at this point. I did notice that the inside light is also not working but don't know if it was working before? Could be unrelated. Any help in trouble shooting would be appreciated. Thanks.

Check the actual door switch,, you can jumper it to see if this is the problem, Just connect the 2 wires together , if this cures the problem replace the switch

SOURCE: dryer wil not spin

Hope this info helps, ps don't forget to give me a rating thanks!!

For an electric dryer that runs but doesn’t heat, follow this repair roadmap:
Flip the circuit breaker off and then back on. Electric dryers run on a two-pole, 240v breaker. A common problem is for one of the legs to break which cuts the 240v that the elements need to heat up but it still supplies the 120v for the motor. The result is that the dryer runs but doesn’t heat.
If the breaker checks out, then it’s time to do some surgery. Unplug the dryer and open it up.
. Use your ohm meter to test the thermostats. All should show continuity.
Measure the resistance of the heating element with your ohm meter. Normal readings are in the neighborhood of 30 ohms.
In rare cases, the centrifugal switch in the motor can fail which breaks the power circuit for the heating elements. If this is the case, then the entire motor must be replaced since the centrifugal switch is built into the motor.

How do i replace the drive motor on Kenmore 80 series dryer model 11076862500

The motor is on a spring loaded pivot. DISCONNECT THE ELECTRICITY.
Remove the spring from the motor. MAKE A DRAWING OF THE BELT PATH. Simply open the wiring port and remove the wires. Make sure you connect the wires to the same marked terminals on the new motor. Also, make sure the new motor is set up for the correct voltage.

110.64872400 kenmore dryer 80 series. dryer makes humming noise when start button is pushed, can turn drum manually. please help

The humming noise is most likely coming from the timer motor and not from the drive motor. This characterizes a problem with a blown thermal fuse which is wired in series with the drive motor and located on the blower housing. Power to the motor is cut when the thermal fuse blows open and consequently the drive motor cannot run. No dryer function works when the drive motor cannot run.

Unplug the dryer or disconnect power then pry the lower access panel off with a flat-head screwdriver as shown.

Remove the screw from the lint duct bracket and remove the bracket. Remove the two hex-head screws from the lint duct and remove the duct to access the thermal fuse and the cycling thermostat.

Click on the links below for the detailed troubleshooting of this problem and the parts diagram. The cycling thermostat(part number
3387134) must also be replaced once the thermal fuse(part number 3392519) is found open.

Kenmore 80 series electric dryer wont start

Push the button manually and see if the light goes off . If it does , then the problem is the thermal fuse (a white slim piece of plastic with 2 wires connected to it ) located on the blower housing beneath the drum .
