Question about Sony Cameras

1 Answer

I have Sony SLR (don't have the model number with me at the moment). The camera is shooting off center. When I frame the picture and shoot, the resulting image is either shifted up (landscape)or to the right (portrait). I get the same result regardless of the lense I use. Any idea what is causing this?

It could be some problem with the orientation and calibration of the lens, this is not an easy job to do, so I suggest you visit your specialist Sony.

I have a Pentax 1stDL. It focuses (lens movement etc) but the picture comes out as a blank, darkness only.

I experience same thing on my K5 recently. The reason is the shutter and needs to replacement.
You can try to set the camera on "continuous shooting mode", and shot three or more frame consequently. By this way you could miss one or two frames but you may have one or more frames ok.

Film is not developing

There is not any in camera developing. This is not a digital camera it is a film camera wherein we put a film cartridge with a specified number of shots into the camera then thread the film leader to the takeup spool, close the camera advance the film a few frames, then we are ready to shoot. After the specified number of shots, 24 or 36, film is rewound into the canister, camera back opened film canister removed then taken to the lab for processing.

Is the Sony Cybershot DSC H3 an SLR camera? How does one distinguish an SLR from another camera? Thanks. Bill

No, it is not a SLR or DSLR camera. SLR cameras have a mirror in them, where as point-and-shoot class cameras do not. With an SLR the mirror allows you to look through the lens, so that you are actually seeing through the lens when looking in the viewfinder. With a point and shoot, even a superzoom like the H3, the viewfinder is actually a small LCD, showing you a digital *image* of what the sensor sees.

Another primary feature is that SLR and DSLRs have removable lenses. They also are typically faster, and have better lower light performance. On the downside they are typically more expensive, larger and heavier.

All DSLRs will be noted as such. In Sony's case, their DSLR line is named "Alpha".

Is there a setting I can change my camera to so that I don't have a delay in picture taking??

Unfortunately, small point and shoot cameras do no have this option. Only the SLR cameras are able to take instantaneous photos.

Nikon d50 monitor does not work during photo shooting, must use view finder

This is completely normal. The monitor is used for setting menu items, displaying shooting info, and reviewing images. Like SLR have functioned for over fifty years, you take pictures by composing and framing through the viewfinder. Only the most recent dSLRs have the Live View capability which allows you to use the monitor like a point&shoot camera.
