Dehumidifier making too much water

Sorry folks, those who complain that their dehumidifier is making too much water seem to fail to understand, that is what it is supposed to do. If it is a portable unit, yes, it is a pain in the neck to have to keep emptying it. Check your owner's manual to see if it can be modified to be piped to a permenant drain. Next time, purchase a bigger model.

The system is on in cooling mode and I have it set for 16 degrees celsius. It does not drop to below 24 degrees. I have it set up correctly but just doesn't seem to want to get cool. Any...

If you're running the dehumidifier at the same time as the cool mode. That's the problem. The dehumidifier mode generates heat and the cool mode operates at half capacity, when both are run at the same time.

To obtain a copy of the Owners Manual for your model contact the Danby Consumer help line: 800-263-2629, as your model has been retired. They can email you and copy as an attachment.

Hope this helps you and thanks for choosing FixYa.

Do I have to put in water in order to make it colder?? and if so where...and does it collects water, at what point do i dump?? thanks in advance

You DO NOT have to add water. The unit collects humidity out of the air, if you're operating the dehumidifier, in addition to the AC part of the unit. It is not necessary to operate the dehumidifier and the AC side at the same time. Once the water collection tank is full, the unit should shut off and the bucket full warning indicator will glow. This is when you drain the water from the tank, as described in the Owner's Manual. So, just in case you have misplaced the Owner's Manual, I have included a link to it that you can download and print for future reference.

How to use system as the dehumidifier. I lost the manual

The function of air conditioning IS the dehumidifier. It uses the process of refrigeration to condense water, like a water glass with ice cubes, pulls moisture from the air. The key is are you reheating the air somehow.
This is why the A/C is needed for defrost and defog in your car.

Just turn the unit on and monitor the collected water, emptying when needed.

DE500P Dehumidifier: Does not dehumidify even though set to dehumidify. Fan will turn on when RH above setting, and stay on, since humidity doesn't drop. Filter is clean & pail empty.

Locate and touch the cooils located, usually, above the condensate collection pan, ("pail empty"). If the coils are not cold, or cool to the touch, the unit has lost its charge of refrigerant. This would explain why the unit fan is working, but there is no condensate, as there is no coolant (charge) to cool the coils and "pull" the hunidityout of the air.
