Question about Amana Dryers

1 Answer

Hi, I hope you can help me. My dryer stopped spinning recently and when I noticed that, I also noticed a burning rubber smell. My husband said it must be the belt. We ordered a replacement and he put it on last night. He checked the dryer and it was spinning and getting hot. I went in and put a load of clothes in and also checked to make sure it was spinning and getting hot. I went back in to get the clothes out and they were still wet. I restarted it and when the dryer stopped they still were not dry. We don't know what else to check. The model number is LEA50AW Thank you for any help you can give us.

What is the bruning rubber odor - new dryer!

Im not familier with that particular machine but it sounds as though bits of the rubber backing you talk about has flaked into tiny bits and moved beyond the drum and into the workings of the dryer moter and heater. Contact with these will produce the smell and slight risk of fire.
The back of the applience will need to come off and cleaned out.How you accomplise this is up to you!!. If you have some one who is very handy at this sort of thing then grt.otherwise leave it to a proffesional. Obviosly compressed air gun is the way to do it.

Heating extremely fast and smells like burning rubber

If it is a belt driven dryer the belt may be spinning on the motor shaft and it may be bad. Hence the burning rubber smell. Have it checked.

Washing machine spins slowly and smells of burning rubber

The belt could be worn and will be slipping on the pullys, as it spins up the rubber , rubs against the pullys and that is what creats the burning rubber smell, the belt needs replacing.

Kenmore 80 series quit heating after burning smell..

Any kind of lint or cobwebs on the element would cause a hot spot and fry the element or pop the limit that is mounted on top of the chamber. What your hubby soulda done is take the machine down and vacuum it out after sitting up so long. The fuse is not blown because it still runs so it must be the small guy pictured. It mount up top of the heat element chamber.ff8b5e7.jpg
