Question about Audio Players & Recorders

Open Question

My Sharp DV-RW250H has stopped recording and playing back dvd's. It tries to read discs and comes up with error code C104 incorrect disc.I've tried new discs,pre-recorded ones and cleaning the lens without any success. It has no problem reading playing back CD's. Does anyone have any suggestions please? Regards Trevor Naylor

SOURCE: Selective playing of DVD's on Sharp DVD Recorder

Given that the machine will read disks it has written itself but not play regular discs, I suspect the lens assembly is slightly out of alignment and needs adjusting. This is not normally something you can do at home unless you have the correct test gear. It will need to go to a repair shop. One thing you can try before that is to clean the lens. Buy a quality (Scotch 3M, Philips ) cleaning disc and try it. Could be it's only a speck of dust on the lens.....

SOURCE: Yamaha MusicCast won't record cds

This error "disc error", "no disc present" or " can\'t read cd". This all error are related to lens problem. If the lens is dirty or if the lens is got cracked or if the lens is getting blocked then it can happen. The lens is very thin glass material. You can say the lens is the "eye" of the unit.If the eye is dirty then it will not see the object. The unit needs to be opened carefully and this lens has to be checked. If any dust is collected clean it.Using the cd lens cleaner helps, but if the dust is got stuck hard or if its any other internal part then the lens cleaner will not help.If the lens is got cracked then the lens assembly has to be replaced. You can use dry tissue to clean the lens.once the unit is opened.------------This will help.Thanks.Helpmech.

SOURCE: how do i replace the read write head on my panasonic dvd recorder

It is not an easy work as you thinks. You must have thorough knowledge in electronics, and experience to diassemble and reassamble the deck mechanism. Seek tech support. This is a very skilled work. Never make the set irrepairable.

How do i select finalise on sharp dv-rw 250h remote control

If you are using the original remote or one which matches all of the functions, make sure that no DVD or VHS tape is being played and that the recorder is on. Make sure that there is sufficient space left on the disc. (The space needed depends on chapter/disc titles.) Then press Setup on the remote; it should be below the arrow keys but the position may vary. Use the Up/Down arrows to select System Setup and press Enter. Select Disc Setup and press Enter. Select Finalise and press Enter. Select Start with the Right/Left arrows and press Enter. Wait for the procedure to finish.

Note: only discs recorded on this particular device can be finalized on the DV-RW250H. On some other Sharp DVD recorders, the Disc Menu is accessed directly from the Setup menu.

I hope this helps.

Trying to record on a DVD-R , after several minutes trying to load i get a msg saying it can neither read nor play this disc , check disc,,please help

I've had this problem with trying to record on CD-Rs also. DVD and CD recorders can be very fussy. You just have to get a piece of dust or a fingerprint on the CD or DVD that's being recorded onto and it gets kicked back as a check disc or blank disc..

Another problem is some recorders will only accept certain brands. I've had problems recording onto a SONY CD-R with a SONY recorder! So, in summing up, try a different brand or make sure the disc is clean. Sometimes just taking the disc out and putting it back in in a different position will make the recorder think it's an OK disc. Hope this helps.

I think you need to take it to the service center, because there's nothing that you can do all by your self. The problems starts from the optical lens/ laser pick up, replacing the lens could be necessary.

Solutions to incorrect disk error c105 & c104

Hello gjbrokke,

First make sure the disc is compatible with the dvd player (CD-R+ , or CD-R - )

Second make sure the region code of the dvd you burned is compatible with the dvd region settings on your dvd player.

One of those two are preventing the disc from playing in your sansui player.

Try cleaning the optics with one of those DVD cleaners.
When that probably doesn't work, you can hand clean the optics if you can figure out how to get at them. (easy on some, hard on others) If that doesn't work, it is prbably not worth going any farther
