My PS3 wont allow me to download anything to the harddrive.
I'm not sure if its just not allowed, but i can't seem to be able to put anything from my psp or thumbdrive onto my ps3. I cant even download videos from PSN or other places to the harddrive to watch. Im curious if this is my harddrive or something else. the error code given is: 8003041C. Firmware is current and the harddrive has space. Ive restored it and done everything i can think of, thanks in advance for any help.

This error has been dubed as the Virus error by PS3 users. The hard drive needs to be completely wiped. You can do this by doing the full system restore. (Yea, the one that takes 10 hours) One or more of your files may be corrupted with a very small but lethal file that affects the PS3 but may not affect your PC. If all else fails, try a different hard drive. I hope this helps you. Good luck and happy gaming!!
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

Unfortunately at this moment in time it isnt possible to download pictures from the internet direct onto your PS3.
You can however download pictures on your PC or Laptop to a USD stick and transfer the pictures that way.
When you plug a USB Memory stick into your PS3 it should allow you to copy across to your PS3's harddrive.
Hope this helps
Format a USB drive as FAT32 file system (NTFS will not work with PS3), create a folder called "VIDEO" (without "s), put the video in there. name new folders "PICTURE" and "MUSIC" for those types of files as well.
The PS3 will also allow you to access a variety of media file formats from the video, music and photo menus of the Cross Media Bar.
I would say either a bad harddrive or bad boot sector. If you are looking for a DIY solution, youll want to test the harddrive by running disk wizard or something similar or pulling the harddrive and putting it in a harddrive enclosure (available from NewEgg.com). The enclosure will hookup to another computer through usb or firewire and will allow you to backup your files if the harddrive is still good. If the harddrive isnt good, youll get errors while copying the files or it wont allow you to access the harddrive at all.
Else, take it to a computer repairman to have them pull the harddrive and run tests on it.
He needs to go to a local best buy radio shack, office depot type store and get a cat-5 ethernet cable from his ps3 to his router, this will solve all his problems since wireless gaming always has drop spots that can get worse depending on the router type. Also if their are other computers make sure there not downloading or eating up bandwidth, this will not allow it to connet. Make sure the router settings allow the ps3 to connect, does the ps3 see the router but wont connect? you need the wep key.
PS3 is The amazing device by sony but it has some common problems like Disc error, unreadable disc etc.... Good news is that these all
problems can be repaired with the help of DIY Guides, one such guide
available at PS3 Repair Blog
Ring Sony. The update to version 2.3 contains a fault. The Blu Ray chip in the console is being allowed to run faster than it safely can, and it burns out. You must ring Sony, they are aware of this problem and will arrange a courier to collect your PS3 and a new unit will be sent out to you.
