Question about Audio Players & Recorders

Suddenly, the CD in my Panasonic RX DT-680 has either stopped playing entirely or for a particular CD it turns but skips. When I put a CD in, it doesn't even turn or recognize it. Any suggestions?

I have already checked the various CDs for debris, so that's not it. The CD player also makes a strange noise at the beginning of the one CD that still plays, but it seems to go away mid way through the CD. As I posted originally, most times the player will not even recognize a CD or spin at all. I wonder if this is a problem with the laser and would like to know what specifically I can do to try to resolve it.

I have only been using original CDs. When I put the CD in, it either doesn't turn at all or turns little and then stops. Is this related to the lens? I wonder if the lens is not moving properly back and forth. Is that something that can be fixed?

Hi,

According to your problem, first check the disk status that the disk is not too old or scratched. Use only original disk. You can try with another original good quality new disk. It now you get the same problem then there is the problem with either disk tray or player lens. Clean the lens with lens cleaner kit. Make sure that the disk tray is not getting loose or slips. You may have to replace the lens.

Hi,
How long have you had this Stereo? Usually a CD or DVD that skips or does not play properly is almost always caused because it is dirty, fingerprints, dust, dirt, hair, or any other substance on the disc can interfere with the laser reading the disc causing it to skip or have other minor glitches in specific parts of the disc.

In addition to a dirty CD or DVD a drive or player can also be dirty from dust, dirt, or hair that enters the bay. If you're encountering skipping or other read errors with multiple CD or DVD discs it's possible that the drive may by dirty or the mechanism of the cd player itself is faulty.
Hope this helps.

When playing cd's the player skips and then stops when the second part of the disc is reached?

If the CD plays correctly in some other player (or in the CD-player in your vehicle), then your Panasonic CD-player is the cause of the problem. If under warranty, get it replaced. If not under warranty, purchase a replacement.

Disc skips after playing well for a while

If it's the same particular disc, you may try buffing the disc out. I've seen the buffers to do that at Wal-Mart. if it's many discs, you may try cleaning the laser lens with a can of compressed air with the cd drawer open. Best way is to remove the cover and use a dry q-tip. The laser lens' collect dust over time and have trouble reading through the entire disc without skipping.

We have a panasonic rx d15, not used it for a while. Put a cd in, but shows as no cd.... won't play. Any ideas please. Have tried different cds, but still show as no cd.

If it has been a while the laser lens is probably dirty and needs cleaning, you can buy a disc cleaning kit and load it in the machine. The other option is to dis-assemble the unit and use a Q-Tip and rubbing alcohol being careful to clean it gently. If this fails a new assembly will be needed but this would not be cost effective.

Ive just inherited a panasonic RXDT505 portable cd stereo without remote control or manual and I don't know how to skip cd tracks?

It is much easier with a remote ,but what you have to do is turn the 'jog' dial on the top of the machine wilst looking at the display to select the track, then press the play button to play the track you have selected. I would recommend upgrading to a DT 707 ,if you see on that is,as they have amazing sound quality! much better than the DT 505.
Best Wishes
Jack.

How do I tape to tape

you mean to record?first, you must connect the other unit (if you are using two cassette)by using rca plug or earphone plugs.insert the plugs to audio in or aux(this is the unit that will record).if the other unit doesn't have the output audio, use the earphone out instead.time to record.the recorder must be set to tape/aux,(if you are using a unit with radio setting).then, push the play and record button at the same time.don't forget to put in the blank tape ok.then push play to the unit that you want to be recorded.the square symbol is for stop.the arrows pointing left ,rewind.pointing right, forward.the big arrow pointing right is the play and the button next to it is the record button.
