Specifications for the Compaq 12XL125 state that the system memory is:
64 MB 100 MHz SyncDRAM, shared memory architecture, upgradable to 192 MB - 4 MB dedicated for video memory

This system will not be able to use the ram you are trying to install.  For more about this system go to this link:

Yes, it would run better on Win 98. There is a "sweet spot" or ideal amount of ram for each operating system. For Win XP it is 512 MB of ram.  That does not mean it would not run on less.  It just runs slower than it could if it had its ideal amount of ram.  This system would run well in Win 98. It was probably built for Win 95 "back in the day".  The optimal amount of ram for Win 98 is 256 MB but it will run very well on a lot less.

Can it be made connected to wiFi?

Chris Sessions, you could purchase a wireless adapter for it for about $15 pretty much anywhere. Just keep in mind that this laptop does not have a lot of RAM or hard drive space on it.. In other words, if you see that its too slow to search the web you need to do a lot of upgrading on it to work better for you..

Hp Compaq dx2200 MT RAM Problems

Firstly, you have to know that you can upgrade RAM as Double or Half of your pre-installed RAM. For example, like your pre-installed RAM is 256 MB, you can only upgrade RAM of capacity 128 MB or 512 MB. Secondly, check your previous installed RAM's speed that is shown in Ghz. You can only upgrade RAM to its similar speed, otherwise you get slow performance of PC.

I want to upgrade my ram what type of ram should i use and how what is the maximum amount of ram i can upgrade to?

Memory Upgrade for Sony VAIO PCG-K35 Laptop, the Sony VAIO PCG-K35 Laptop takes the PC2100 DDR SDRAM SODIMMs Memory Type, and comes installed with 512 MB = 256 MB (removable) + 256 MB (removable) of Memory. You can upgrade your Sony VAIO PCG-K35 Laptop to up to a maximum of 1.0 GB Memory, the system has 2 sockets to install Memory, already with 512 MB = 256 MB (removable) + 256 MB (removable) standard Memory installed. For best Laptop performance use the maximum amount of allowed Memory per slot for your Laptop.

Presario won't recognize second 256 RAM

Remove the original module, install just the new one and then start your computer. If it doesn't start, the memory you bought is bad. The system boards used in the Compaqs will auto-detect memory, and there are no jumpers or BIOS settings needed.

    Compaq Presario M2000 PC Notebook

The Bios on the laptop motherboard only will recognize a total of 1gig Ram. So the 256 stick would be removed and 2- 512 sticks installed.
