Question about Friendly Robotics Rl1000 Robomower

2 Answers

I am struggling with a strange problem preventing me from using both my RL-1000's: I have stored both machines inside in a dry location together with their fully charged batteries. When I used them in Fall I had no problems, but now both machines keep 'rebooting' when I insert the battery pack's. Making the startup sound and showing the software version V4.33 in the displays. This procedure repeats on and on, without ever starting any of the machines. No buttons react, so I can only pull out the batteries preventing me from mowing the lawn. Any ideas? Thanks in advance. Jesper

Thanks for your response, however I would be surprised if all three batteries are unable to give enough 'juice' for the machines. Anyway I measured the output voltage from one of the battery packs and it says 26.2 volts. Isn't that enough? I would expect that 24 volts would be sufficient.

I have tried three full charged batteries each measuring 24-26 volts in output.

    Thanks fredy2.

Have three fully charged batteries each showing 24-26 volts on a meter. All three batteries cause the same error on both rl-1000's unfortuntaly. Regards, Jesper

The batteries, if you had not trickle charged them while stored, have probably bled down due to electrical leakage to a point below which the unit will not run. NiCad batteries are noted for this. Try to charge the batteries to restore operation. Check the voltage of the batteries since if a cell shorts, they will not charge properly.

Unfortunately the voltage reading is not enough to gaurantee operation. One has to do a load test, that is testting them under load, as the common failure is increase of internal resistance such that when lod is applied the voltage drops drastically. If you can apply say a two amp load and find the voltage does not drop significantly, then we can expnerate the batteries. Assuming that you can do that test and thee batteries pass, the next thing is to look for a problem with interlocks... ie safety devices that prevent personal injury. I don't have schematics for this, but there are likely one or more safety devices that prevent the unit from starting if there is any danger. ALSO the unit has an anti-theft system. I suspect that interlock MIGHT be what is blocking startup. You likely have to have it in its base station. I don't have the manual on the unit that describes the anti-theft interlock but that is the first place I would look assuming the batteries are good. The unit likely communicates during its self test and unless it receives the code via the radio link it will not boot up. How the anti-theft works might involve close proximity to the base station OR possibly the hand held controller. Check batteries in the handheld too...

Welcome to FixYa!
It looks like a battery problem. The Robomower should be kept in charging mode when not in use. The batteries are designed that way. The batteries will be damaged if you have kept it a long time without being charged. See details below.
Of all the areas regarding the RoboMower, proper charging of the Power Pack is second only to safety in importance. Failure to follow the charging guidelines will result in poor performance and a short Power Pack life. After the completion of any daily cutting session it is very important to bring the RoboMower to its storage area and plug it into the charger as soon as possible, preferably within 6 hours from the time it stopped. The standard charger is actually a power supply, where the voltage output is DC and the current flowing to the Power Pack for re-charging is regulated inside the mower. The Docking Station utilizes a similar type of power supply, but it is connected to the Docking Station and is approved for outdoor use. The charging system and Power Pack are designed such that they can remain plugged in at all times of non-use without concern to over charging, over heating or damaging the Power Pack. In fact, it is the preferred way to maintain your Power Pack, always keep it plugged into the charger when not being used.
Thank you for using FixYa. Have a great day. Jas247

How so I program the two together? Struggling here

If the opener have the same color learn buttons you can program them on the same remotes using different buttons. If the learn buttons are different then you will have to get universal remote like a clicker to program them. You can get one at most hardware stores.

How to clean a WMF 800 coffee machine with tablets and sponge

Normaly to clean a coffee machine like WMF 800 you have to use a tablet together with a small sponge to prevent that the brewing tool stick together. Solitabs are very recommended for this, but they are expensive. 100 pieces with sponge 25€.
Now i find out to use simple cleaning tablets based on peroxide and detergents .100 pieces about 10€ and the use of spontex sponge cloths which i cut to pieces of 1cmx1cm. They work perfect and I save a lot of money. You are able after use, to pick them up out of the waste, wash the sponge, dry and you can use them again.

How do i use LG front door washing mechine

These are very similar to top loaders, with the exception of the fact that the use a fraction of the water the older top loaders use. To work best, use the recommended amount or less of your favorite detergent that is available as an HE formula. The HE detergents to not create as much suds as the non HE types; which is required with the small amount of water the machines use. It also ensures the clothes will rinse all soap out completely. Resist the urge to use the less expensive "regular" detergent instead of the HE types - it will cost you more in the end if you don't - trust me. Like top loaders, don't overload the machine either.

When done washing clothes for the day, leave the washer door open over night - to allow the insides of the machine to dry. These doors are water tight as opposed to the top loader and allowing it to dry will prevent nasty mold from forming inside. You might consider running a clothes-less cycle with hot water and bleach to kill mold or as a preventative measure once a month or so too.

Good luck!

When cleaning the washing machine it stopped and the RL came on. What is RL?

RL means at the start of the CLEANING WASHER cycle a load isdetected inside the drum.

Try removing clothes from drum and start the cycle again.

The inside of my washing machine smells

Regular cleaning maintenance is required to prevent odor build up inside the machine. The LG WM2688HWM has a TUB CLEAN feature, a special cycle for the cleaning of the inside of the washer. This cycle uses a high water level with higher spin speed.
  1. Remove any clothing or items from the washer and close the door.
  2. Open the dispenser drawer and add liquid chlorine bleach ONLY to the bleach compartment.
  3. Close the dispenser drawer slowly to prevent the bleach from spilling.
  4. Turn on the machine then press the EXTRA RINSE button for 3 seconds.
  5. Press the START/PAUSE button to start.
  6. Leave the door open to dry the washer door opening, door seal and door glass after the cycle is complete.
